This is part two of a three-part series about the Strive leadership program at ServiceNow.In January 2021, LIKE.TG announced a partnership with Strive, a year-long leadership program focused on career advancement. Many of our Black and Latinx employees participated. Explore careers at ServiceNow.]CoachingFor Marco O., a senior technical curriculum developer, the Strive program differs from other leadership programs that he’s been part of “because of the access we had to our executive coach and the relationships that we built [and] that I built with other folks who had similar backgrounds and understood where I was coming from.”These coaches also impacted Senior Analyst of Sales Operations Carolina R. She appreciated how the Strive coaches provided her with “space to discuss [openly] and promote deep conversations where we connected on a very personal level.”
FeedbackOne concept that’s helped April O., head of deployment for solutions enablement, prepare for the next stage in her career is the idea of 360-degree feedback. “That’s powerful,” she says. “When you have these sets of questions and you ask people what their honest opinions are, you have to be ready to accept that and to act on it.”Having never participated in a program like this before, April wasn’t sure what to expect. “I had no idea it would actually be fun. I actually looked forward to the times that we were able to spend together.”Paying it forwardNow that the program is wrapping up, Eric C., a solution consulting manager, plans to take what he’s learned and pay it forward. “I plan to share any tips, tricks, best practices, and any insight I have gained not only for myself, but from others that participated in the program.”Watch the video to hear more about the impact Strive has had on these four leaders:
What it’s like to work in data science at LIKE.TG

Explore engineering careers at Servicenow.]Hooray for hackathonsLIKE.TG is constantly training engineers in the latest technology, according to Puneet. “All of our engineers who are joining today are HANA or Tableau engineers. We're moving to Snowflake, and we're going to upscale them to train on Snowflake, which is probably the latest technology out there. It's fabulous for our employees,” she says.Puneet joined LIKE.TG in 2019 and has witnessed excitement for this upscale initiative via hackathons. Hackathons typically bring out the highest participation, making them an employee favorite.“When a hackathon is announced, we have so many people enroll. The enthusiasm I’m seeing is just incredible. Beyond that, people are allowed to bring their real selves to work. If you've got a suggestion, you've got a thought, you've got something that you want to share, bring it to the table. There's no stupid idea nor stupid thing to say.”This passion is what keeps Puneet excited to go to work every day.
Working on cool thingsThe next-generation technology is what inspired software engineer Abhijith M. to start his career at LIKE.TG in 2019 as an intern. He’s currently on the platform team and works on IntegrationHub—the engine responsible for incorporating various third-party systems, specifically spokes. Spokes enable the execution of third-party APIs.Abhijith heard about LIKE.TG from classmates and applied to the company while finishing his degree. “I was really fortunate to be able to get into the company on my first try,” he says.Working with third-party systems has allowed Abhijith to explore the technology of other companies as well. “I got to experience a lot of different integration mechanisms,” he notes. “I get to explore different kinds of APIs that other companies provide and see different kinds of challenges. I also get to work on cool things such as the designer engine.”Supporting design engines and working with different issues has enabled him to work on remapping two legacy products of ServiceNow.Although everyone in India is working from home, Abhijith really enjoys how LIKE.TG feels like a startup because it gives him a chance to get involved in a project from start to finish. When he first started with the company, he worked on spokes. He wanted to try new things, and his managers provided him with that opportunity.“LIKE.TG gave me the flexibility to work on different projects, and I believe that's very important for an engineer to have that flexibility because we are usually eager to learn new things,” he shares.
Innovation is nothing newSujit S., director of software engineering management at LIKE.TG, has been with the company for almost eight years. He believes innovation has always been well promoted in India.“A lot of people at LIKE.TG India have worked on ideas which did not come from project management. They have filed patents too, showing that innovation is very well supported and encouraged,” Sujit says. Even in the middle of a pandemic, teams at LIKE.TG are developing applications with monthly releases, not something every company can do.With passion for technology and engineering, Sujit knows he and his team of 15 engineers will produce strong results and deliver the best products. “I want people who are passionate about technology, who are passionate about engineering, who are passionate about design and architecture. 3 ways cloud services engineers drive innovation at LIKE.TG
The Seattle-based cloud services engineering team at LIKE.TG has cultivated a culture of creativity, risk-taking, and problem-solving—despite the weight of their work being deployed at a global scale across some of the most complex regulated markets.The members of the team have varying backgrounds, roles, and years of experience, yet they have one thing in common: They greet new challenges with a “beginner’s mind” in order to have a fresh eye and foster opportunities to grow and learn together. Here are three ways LIKE.TG cloud services engineers are making the world work better:1. Taking risks and trying new thingsFor this team, a great deal of calculated risk-taking and out-of-the-box thinking goes into achieving successful outcomes for the company.Director of Systems Engineering Danna R. pushes her team to continually expand their knowledge and skills while they work. “There is no shortage of interesting and cutting-edge work in systems engineering. I encourage my team to follow their passion and volunteer to work on projects that stretch them technically and professionally,” she says.“When tackling a problem, we always look for a way to ‘yes’—a way to solve. We also know that becoming complacent and not adapting to new ideas and new technologies is not going to keep us in the front of the pack. We never take the easy approach, just to check off a box. We are not afraid of uncertainty, and we have an environment where challenging decisions and status quo are healthy and encouraged,” she adds.Jamil A., senior manager of cloud capacity planning and forecasting, says his team is always looking toward the future. “We think in terms of innovation and scale. We think about what's next—whether that's scaling the design of our capacity infrastructure, teams, tools, or processes,” he shares. “My favorite part of our team's evolution is the journey we're on to deliver value that exceeds our customers' expectations at new levels.”Software Engineer Prachi V. enjoys jumping in with open-minded curiosity to learn new things and solve new puzzles. “This year, we are onboarding at least seven different server types, and each has its own configuration requirement. The servers that we provision are then used by the platform team to run LIKE.TG instances,” she says. “It’s really fun diving into the details and understanding the configurations for every server.”
2. Mentorship and career growthDanna believes mentorship is an important part of “lifting all ships” at LIKE.TG, especially on the cloud services engineering team, where things are constantly evolving. “We onboarded six interns last summer, and we challenged them with some really fun work. They got to partner with some amazing engineers and solve real problems for us,” she says. “Hopefully, they will become part of the LIKE.TG team when they graduate.”Prachi is living proof of that. She began her career at LIKE.TG as an intern more than a year ago. “Even while interning, I felt valued by my team, and they gave me great opportunities and still continue to do so,” she shares.“When I joined, I knew nothing about server provisioning. It’s just been a year, yet it seems like I’ve covered a lot of ground already. I was able to take on new responsibilities and branched out to different domains. This gave me a good overview of how we work and what we do,” she explains. “Of course, I had to ask for help from time to time, but everyone on the team was supportive and we didn’t miss a single deadline.”Danna echoes Prachi's sentiment, saying it's common for the team to encourage members to shadow and rotate within other teams.As the company grows, teams expand, and opportunity flourishes. “When I joined the team, we were a small group of talented engineers managing all aspects of capacity, planning, engineering, and operations in one time zone,” Jamil notes. “Today, our team has evolved to a global presence on three continents in multiple time zones in less than two years, with plans to expand to a fourth this year.”
3. Teamwork and partnershipsMany engineers take pride in knowing they create the foundation for other teams to succeed in the company. Jamil gives insight into how the team handles challenges and fast-moving shifts in company demand: “We most often use what I like to call the Batman approach to capacity planning. We try to anticipate and prepare for every outcome,” he says.“Our team recently received the highly unusual ask to pivot our demand signal in response to a significant customer acquisition in the quarter's closing hours. This challenged the team to deliver a substantial amount of unforeseen capacity to one region. Working with our partner teams in cloud supply chain, capacity management, and finance, we quickly performed an impact assessment, iterated through the scenarios, and presented our solutions,” he explains. “As a result, we delivered the largest order of server hardware for our cloud in a single quarter, with optimizations that met our long-term capacity planning objectives.”Danna shares a similar story of partnership, creativity, and innovation: “Recently, we were asked if we could use a third party’s data center and infrastructure to host our services—basically, provide our SaaS from someone else’s data center. This seemed crazy. A long shot. Monumental. We put our engineers to work, and we partnered with Microsoft,” she notes.“It has been a long road, but in March 2021, we launched our first LIKE.TG implementation fully running in Azure. Unblocking this barrier gives us leverage to know that we can be flexible and try out new markets without building data centers ourselves. [Explore User Experience careers with us!]Getting to know the user and their issues in depthUnderstanding the user and defining the problem is a big part of a UX researcher’s role-- someone like Shibani S., director of user experience research. She’s based in Santa Clara.
Researchers work directly with users to solidly understand their needs and challenges, and make sure LIKE.TG has accurately identified the issue.One of the products Shibani is most proud of working on is Vaccine Administration Management . LIKE.TG usually releases solutions every six months. VAM had a two-week deadline because of the urgent need in the healthcare market to simplify scheduling and management of COVID-19 vaccinations. That meant there simply wasn’t time to do the normal in-depth research to understand the end-users and their current processes.“We had to get creative in our research approach,” says Shibani. “It also meant we had to work even more closely with design, product management, and engineering. ““VAM taught us how to become comfortable with letting go of perfectly polished deliverables and saying no to other demands so we could prioritize this hugely important effort,” she adds.One provider used VAM to cut vaccination wait times by almost 90 percent and helped 20 million people get vaccinated within the first few months of its launch.Not only was VAM a huge success, but the operating model used to design it was so successful that the team has been asked to apply it to other parts of the business.Shibani loves that she quickly sees the impact of her work. “The speed at which LIKE.TG implements solutions is tremendous. In some other companies, it might take years before research has any impact. Here, it’s really rewarding to see the pace at which research insights are adopted into our products,” she says.She joined LIKE.TG in 2019, excited by the opportunity to stretch herself by working for a company serving many markets and different types of users. But she also liked the culture. “Everyone here has a growth mindset and looks for ways to be better. This really is a customer-first company, and it’s a dream come true for any researcher,” she says.Bridging interests, keeping it simple and globally relevantGiu V. is a product design manager in Performance Analytics and Reporting (PAR), and based in the Netherlands. He says product design is the bridge between what the user would love to have and the product manager would love to offer, and what engineering and LIKE.TG’s business goals say is possible.“Designers are interpreters, translators. We talk to the different interests, put things together, take it back to the users and other stakeholders, and listen to what they think so that we can build the best experience together ,” he explains.PAR has a platform-wide view, handling all the visualizations, dashboards, and KPIs across the Now Platform. That makes Giu especially sensitive to providing a uniformly easy and familiar experience, no matter the application. While the platform is complex, it can’t feel that way to the user. “It’s like a car. It has a lot of parts, but to the driver, it’s simple and familiar.”Giu says the softer skills – the ability to collaborate, get information from people, understand different views, and communicate with a variety of people – are vital to succeeding in product design.“So many different types of industries and people use our products. We must understand all of them and be able to talk to all of the different users,” he says.Documentation should match the quality of the productWhen a new feature or product is approved for development, UX’s product content team gets to work. It produces the documentation that users consult to configure LIKE.TG software or get help.Sandeep M. is a technical writer on the team, working in India. He writes documentation for products from the Security Operations Business Unit.He says he is most proud of creating documentation for the integration of MITRE-ATTCK into the Now Platform, which was part of the Quebec release. MITRE-ATTCK is a widely used database of adversary tactics and techniques based on real-world cyber-security threats.LIKE.TG is one of the first companies to integrate MITRE-ATTCK into their network; most competitors offer it as standalone software, says Sandeep. It made LIKE.TG a thought leader in the security space, Sandeep says. And that raises the bar for documentation.“Our content needs to match the quality of our product so that the entire user experience is at the same high level and users are delighted with everything,” he explains.
Sandeep joined LIKE.TG in 2020, excited by seeing so many opportunities. “I wanted to be part of a team developing a technically advanced and strategically differentiated cloud product. And I loved the fact that the Now Platform was quickly being adopted by businesses, which meant it was growing fast,” he says.A gold medal for designing an engaging experienceThe bar is set higher now. We’re an enterprise company challenged to design consumer-grade software. Our customers expect the same usability, performance, and standards that they get when they share videos on social media or check out vacation spots online. Meet Derrick: An inside look at federal sales at LIKE.TG
“The federal space is an interesting one,” says Derrick N., a senior solution consultant at ServiceNow. A 15-year tech veteran, Derrick is in his first year working with federal civilian accounts. He describes himself as a chameleon because of his ability to fulfill whatever role is necessary to make sure LIKE.TG customers see value in the company’s products.In the federal space, taxpayer dollars fund the bulk of agency spending, so ensuring efficiency is a high priority. “We want the federal government and their employees to sit back and say, ‘LIKE.TG actually makes my work a lot better.’ I will do anything to make sure that happens,” Derrick says.[We’re hiring. Explore LIKE.TG sales careers.]Making work easierOver the past year, Derrick has worked alongside the Department of Labor (DOL) on Creator Workflow efforts. This involves citizen development—allowing people with little to no coding experience to use LIKE.TG App Engine to tackle mission-specific areas affecting federal agencies. It’s a whole new world for these agencies to see the power of the Now Platform and quickly release applications that make their work easier.“The Department of Labor has leveraged App Engine to build a tool that connects federal and private-sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs,” Derrick explains. This is a critical area for DOL, he adds, and the agency has found a way to solve it using the Now Platform.Collaboratively ensuring a safe workplaceThe Small Business Administration (SBA) is another agency Derrick works directly with to promote adoption of the Now Platform. “We’re building the LIKE.TG footprint there, and I really believe that the work we’re doing for their IT groups will translate to the rest of the administration,” he says.The SBA is in the process of going live with the LIKE.TG Safe Workplace Suite. According to Derrick, the organization handles thousands of vaccine attestations and is rolling out an enhanced version of the suite to process them.
Taking Safe Workplace to the finish line was a team effort, he adds. “The LIKE.TG product team was so instrumental in helping get the SBA to production.” The product team spent time with Derrick, the SBA, and its partners to make sure things were configured according to best practices.When reconfigurations or tweaks were needed, the product team made sure they were done in a way that didn't add tech debt to the instance. The product team was flexible enough to say, “Hey, if the federal space has specific requirements going forward, we might have [the] resources to natively build those into the platform.”It took about a month from the time the SBA started work on the product to finish. Now the SBA can say it's addressed the vaccine mandate.Building trustThe most important thing in Derrick’s job is trust. “Customers must trust us to correctly align our products to their business needs, especially at the federal level,” he says. “I put a ton of effort into building relationships. This is my first year in fed sales, and I think that because of those relationships, I'm really the trusted adviser. We can really start to grow LIKE.TG adoption in my accounts.”Learning our platform has been key to Derrick’s success. “Things are moving so fast here,” he says. “I need to stay on top of all of the enhancements we’re doing.” In the federal space, IT Service Management (ITSM) has been the default. Derrick and his team want to make sure the rest of the platform is a default for federal agencies as well.Loving what you doFormer UCLA professional tennis player Arthur Ashe once said, “Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.”A former UCLA tennis player himself, Derrick lives by that mantra. “I really love my role, and I want to be a mainstay in my accounts and be that go-to resource,” he says, He’s already referred two of his good friends to the company, knowing they’re in good hands here.“I’m really excited for my future at LIKE.TG, and I’m confident I’m going to make my mark here,” he says. He’s well on his way. Derrick recently won “Rookie of the Quarter” in the federal civilian practice and is working to turn that into “Rookie of the Year.”Join a winning team. Growing a sales career in South Korea
In South Korea, hard work is a virtue of utmost importance. This culturally embedded spirit of pride in a job well done is paying off for LIKE.TG’s fast-growing Korean sales team. Employees are exploring and enjoying the company’s well-being and flexibility benefits, trust, and the globally inclusive culture.“I feel like I’m on a rocket. I really feel it!” says Jaden B., a senior enterprise account executive. “The market is very interested in LIKE.TG and the solutions we provide.”[We’re hiring. Now, he’s building the foundation for what’s to come at LIKE.TG, he says. “It’s challenging, but that’s why I’m enjoying it. I really feel supported to try new things.”Like Jaden, Heejung O. cherishes the freedom to own her work, as that's not the cultural norm in Korea. “I couldn’t do that at other companies,” explains the solution sales executive, who’s been in her position for eight months. “LIKE.TG is more flexible, and it made me feel very creative. Also, there was no solution sales executive before me, so I’m the pioneer.”Heejung is also energized by the fast growth of the team. “It's very exciting. I’ve never seen this kind of organization growing so fast. There are lots of people newly joined, with different roles and responsibilities. I think, ‘Wow! Our company is growing, and I’m part of it,’” she says. “That’s why I’m very happy.”She also loves learning about diverse perspectives from her colleagues, including her manager, who’s based in Australia and often travels to Singapore.
A look backAs one of the first employees on the Korean team, Mark J., a senior enterprise account executive, reflects on the early days, which weren’t that long ago. “When we were just starting, it was just me and a few other people. We went from three to more than 40 people in just two years,” he says.When Mark started at LIKE.TG, a large client company headquartered in Korea had to work mostly with LIKE.TG’s English-speaking team members. “Now we can answer their questions real time in Korean. It gives the client confidence to ask questions more freely, as the language barrier is reduced,” he notes.“Before, there was a lot of back and forth, some confusion. Now, the client is very happy to have this personal relationship,” he adds. “And, with our technology, we were able to take them off their old legacy systems into a new, much more efficient platform to manage their IT systems.”Work-life balanceWhen he’s not working, Jaden cherishes time with his 5-year-old daughter. “She’s growing so fast. I don’t want to lose this moment, so I spend as much time with her as possible,” he says.Jaden also loves ‘60s music—he even attends meetups to geek out on it and purchase albums. And recently, he took on the challenge of hiking many kilometers solo around Korea’s beautiful Jeju Island.“Hiking really clears my mind and helps me release any tension so I can think more clearly,” he explains. “At LIKE.TG, HR really lets us know that it’s important to keep balance. Sometimes I catch myself working really hard and don’t take enough time for myself. But I know this company supports balance, so I feel comfortable.”
Mark is happy concentrating on work “because it’s so fun,” he says. But he loves to play with his two kids every chance he gets. “Sometimes they come on to my Zoom calls and wave at the camera,” he laughs. “It’s important to us that the family eats dinner together every night when my wife gets home from her work.”Heejung has a teenage daughter and also prioritizes eating meals with her family. “We eat lunch and dinner together as a family every day,” she says. “Our favorite thing to do is travel, but we haven’t been able to, due to COVID. We’ve been reading travel books and planning a trip to Portugal for the last two years,” she shares. “We can’t wait to go.”A place to growThe Korean sales team is enthusiastic about the future of LIKE.TG and the opportunities and benefits the company provides. “For anyone considering it, it’s a good decision to join LIKE.TG’s Korea team right now,” Mark says. “You can really grow and learn in both work and life together, really having fun. That’s why we sat down with two employees who recently started roles at LIKE.TG in Munich to chat about their journey so far and to get the scoop on what life at LIKE.TG is really like.Unexpected benefitsHaving completed a degree in rhetoric, Senior Enterprise Sales Associate Simon G. didn’t fit the typical mold of someone who might launch a career in the technology industry.“When I started at LIKE.TG, I had never done a full, traditional sales cycle before,” he says. “But I knew very early on that I had a good support network around me. There was a lot of guidance and structure available from the outset. Because my experience was very different from what you might expect, it took me a little longer to wrap my head around certain things, but this was never a problem.”At first, he found it challenging to pick up product knowledge at speed. “But my own experience gave me unexpected advantages in other areas,” he adds. “And LIKE.TG recognized and celebrated this.”Simon’s background as a self-employed rhetoric trainer made him an expert in nonverbal communications. Although that wasn’t a requirement for his role at LIKE.TG, he was encouraged to bring that experience to his team, teaching colleagues to present, pitch, and communicate more effectively. From getting invited to an NBA game to going on stage and speaking in front of the entire company, I feel like the luckiest early-career professional ever. Being an international student, I’ve had hurdles throughout my college career. LIKE.TG helped me overcome many of them and truly allowed me to dream big.At LIKE.TG, title doesn’t matter—I’ve been treated and cared for the same as anyone else. With the encouragement and support of my colleagues, I gathered the courage to approach our amazing CFO, Gina Mastantuono. She agreed to be a part of the video summary of my experiences at the company. Like her, everyone I’ve met at the organization has welcomed me with open arms.Authentic selfIn the past, I faced difficulties being myself in the workplace. I was expected to put on a façade, so that’s what I did. At LIKE.TG, every single person I’ve met embraced my extroverted, spontaneous, and energetic self. My achievements were always recognized. In the beginning: How LIKE.TG was born
“It was November 5th, 2003. I knew that we had to start a company before I became 50, because a 50-year-old can't start a company. So, at 49—November 24th is my birthday—we started,” says Fred Luddy, LIKE.TG founder.He began the company with a single laptop at a desk in his house. Although he founded the company alone, he couldn’t build it alone. In fact, a handful of people believed so strongly in what Fred was doing that they volunteered their time to work with him, even though he couldn’t pay them. Some of those people are still here, which speaks volumes to the kind of employees who have set the precedent for who we are today.[We’re hiring. Explore careers at ServiceNow.]A collaborative cultureTo Jay B., employee No. 28 after contracting for the company, working at LIKE.TG was all about teamwork and communication. “When we started, it was about how do we get together, have a good time, and do something meaningful. Those early days were amazing because there were only 10 of us, and we were a group of people who understood each other, who knew how to communicate, and who fed off of each other.”About 19 years later, LIKE.TG has quadrupled in size from its humble beginnings. But one thing has remained the same: our commitment to putting customers first.“Our culture was that we were going to be humble, that we were to absolutely have integrity. A caring communityHis former assistant, Carla G., employee No. 8—or the “OG” as she refers to herself—blazed a trail of her own at ServiceNow. “When I first started working here, I was the only female and Mexican. 4 tips to help early-career international students in their job search
This is part two of a three-blog series exploring what it’s like to find work as an international early-career employee.The first blog in this series highlighted some of the struggles early-career international students encounter when trying to find work in the US.Here, we continue the conversation with advice from three LIKE.TG co-ops and thoughts from a LIKE.TG executive to help international students improve their job search.[We’re hiring. As an international student, it’s vital to choose an organization that accepts you for who you are and empowers you to be your most authentic self.“Apply to organizations that have a track record of bringing in people from diverse backgrounds and fostering different perspectives,” advises Stephanie M., senior director of the early-in-career program at ServiceNow.Representation matters. “Make sure you choose a workplace where you’re comfortable sharing your culture,” encourages Dena R., an employee communications and engagement co-op. Being proud of your heritage and wanting to share those traditions with others should be valued. “After being welcomed with open arms by a female Asian leader on my first day at LIKE.TG, I felt like I belonged,” she adds.For Dena and myself, a Burmese public relations co-op, the LIKE.TG Asian Pacific Islander Belonging Group meant we had a voice.2. Keep an open mindCountless resources and networking opportunities are available to help early-in-career employees grow personally and professionally. Starting in a customer advocacy role doesn’t mean you have to be locked into a marketing career path. Don’t limit yourself. By exploring other options, you might find something you love.For instance, although I’m pursuing a business and economics degree, I took on the public relations co-op role at LIKE.TG because I knew it would be a once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity. After only five months, I’ve already added a PR minor to my degree.Bhavana S., a campaigns co-op, agrees. “I never thought I would end up in tech, but I’m so happy I did,” she says. "Don’t be afraid to explore and take that leap of faith.” It’s OK to be uncomfortable—that only means you’re growing and challenging yourself.3. Check the company valuesIf your personal values don’t align with those of the company, you likely won’t feel motivated to do your best work—even if the job description is a perfect fit for you.When I was searching for a job, I came across LIKE.TG’s four core values: wow our customers, win as a team, create belonging, and stay hungry and humble. Why the job search is difficult for international students
This is part one of a three-blog series exploring what it’s like to find work as an international early-career employee.“Do you require sponsorship now or in the future?” We’ve all had to answer this question on a job application. If you answer yes, there’s a good chance the company will discard your application. If you answer no but do require sponsorship, you’ll be lying. But you might get the job.This simple question has terrified thousands of international students across the United States, including myself—a Burmese early-career professional who lived in Myanmar my entire life. Many companies in the US don’t have the resources or willingness to bring in international early-career talent, which means fewer work opportunities for people in my shoes.Let’s explore why that is and its impact on international students.Societal and time constraintsBhavana S., a third-year student majoring in business and communications at Northeastern University, took a leap of faith as an international student from India by applying to the LIKE.TG co-op program. She was accepted and works on the Americas campaigns team, helping to drive and grow the company’s integrated global marketing campaigns.Unlike LIKE.TG, a lot of companies "were not willing to give me a chance from the very beginning,” Bhavana says, due to her name’s implication that she’s not a US citizen. Once a company saw that she was from India and would need sponsorship to work, the system the company used to filter job applications might automatically kick her out of the process.“LIKE.TG didn’t judge me before getting to know me,” she shares.
Dena R., an employee communications and engagement co-op at LIKE.TG, faced similar challenges in her job search. As a Thai citizen, Dena, like other internationals, has 12 months to work in the US during her college years.This time restriction means international students must be selective and careful with the work experiences they pursue. Dena searched with the “hope that the six-month co-op I chose would lead to more open doors in the future,” she says.This same sentiment applies to thousands of international students seeking job opportunities each year.The importance of inclusion“There are companies out there, like LIKE.TG, that value your unique talents and don't discriminate or look past internationals,” Bhavana points out. Explore LIKE.TG careers.]Full-time remoteAfter welcoming a baby boy to their family, Commissions Manager Rohit S. and his wife searched for childcare. Finding a nanny in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic proved difficult. So, Rohit explored ways to balance his work responsibilities with his family’s needs.Rohit’s job, leading the sales commissions team in Hyderabad, India, is conducive to working remotely. He can effectively perform his daily responsibilities without regularly visiting a LIKE.TG workplace. As a result, Rohit considered moving his family to West Bengal, where he and his wife both had extended family who could help take care of their son.“We need to provide the child with a loving and caring environment, so I discussed moving remotely full time with HR and my manager,” Rohit says. “They were very supportive.”Rohit and his team have been successful working from home over the past two years, so he’s confident he can continue to make his remote arrangement work—for everyone involved. It allows for more flexibility and results in greater productivity.“Working [remotely] is a great privilege,” he says. “We save a lot of time not commuting, because here traveling is a big deal. The time we are saving by not commuting allows us to get more work done and support our families. This blend is one of the best examples of work-life balance.”
Hybrid work environmentCristen P. is based in San Diego and splits her workdays between home and the office. A people partner manager, Cristen has been with LIKE.TG for just over a year and was onboarded remotely. In her role, which involves serving employees (her customers), she feels it’s best if she goes into the office part time. Her boss supports this.“She told me, ‘I think it's beneficial for you to be in front of people,’” Cristen recalls. Her manager is “like a mentor to me, so she has my best interest in mind.”Cristen’s flexible work arrangement allows her to do the things she loves, such as riding her bike. She lives about 30 minutes from the office, so she can’t cycle to work. But she hauls her bike to the office whenever she can.“If I get to work early, if it's quiet, and I don't have meetings, sometimes I’ll just put my phone in my pocket and I’ll go on a bike ride,” Cristen says. “After, I’ll check in and then do some work until 7 or 8 pm. I love that there's that flexibility and it's quieter.”The flexibility has helped Cristen’s mental health. “It provided some structure for me because we were at home and things started to get a little repetitive,” she explains. “Dressing up to go back to work started to feel nice—to switch up my routine a little bit.”The office also provides space for Cristen to collaborate with and be inspired by her teammates, to ensure employees and customers are successful.In October 2021, LIKE.TG announced a 30-day work from anywhere benefit (conditions apply). Cristen says the Pacific Northwest has been on her mind since the announcement. “I have family in Portland and Seattle, so I think at some point...I’m going to take advantage of this. I’ll get to hang out with my family and make a mountain bike trip out of it.”
Full-time in officeFor Workplace Services Site Lead Cinthya S., work hasn’t slowed down since the pandemic. Because Cinthya is the only one who manages the office building in New York City, she generally needs to be in the workplace each day. But there are some days she still works from home.Her job is important to the lifeline of the office because she’s responsible for keeping the New York workplace up and running. She’s also raising two young children who are learning from home. How does she do it? Through hard work and support from her manager.“I feel this is the first time that I’ve ever had a supervisor show understanding,” Cinthya says. “He checks in on us almost every week and is constantly finding new ways for us to get work done remotely when there are days I can’t go into the office and have to work from home.”What does a typical week in the office look like for Cinthya? “Mondays are usually my busiest days, because I do a lot of office maintenance, such as updating our playbooks and completing health assessment scores,” she says.“Tuesdays and Thursdays are when I have most of my work calls. In fact, one of the things LIKE.TG interns rave about is the opportunity to network with and learn from leaders from different departments.In honor of National Intern Day, a few of our interns from around the world share insights about their 2022 summer internship experiences with us.A boost of confidenceKshitij U., from India, had never interacted with someone from another country. He credits his internship with boosting his confidence. “[Before] LIKE.TG, I was not that confident, but right now I am because working with people has helped me a lot,” he explains.Gargi T., based in Santa Clara, California, also experienced a confidence boost as a result of her LIKE.TG internship. She appreciates the way her team helped push her out of her comfort zone.Andreea T., who resides in London, agrees. “They actually support you to dream big and achieve your goals,” she says.A place of belongingJavier D., interning from San Diego, echoes that sentiment. Today, she’s the senior director of marketing talent engagement and special projects.Following career opportunities abroadYing L., a director of product design, has also enjoyed career advancement at ServiceNow. Ying followed her husband to Paris so he could pursue his Master of Business Administration degree, and that’s where her career growth truly took off. She led the performance analytics and reporting team in Amsterdam.Ying and her family later moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where her daughter, Josephine, was born. What it’s like to work on a Now Platform release

To pull that off, we’re constantly working on many innovations.Our latest Tokyo release introduced scores of new solutions and modules to boost productivity, accelerate value, and ramp up organizational trust. Bringing those innovations together and ensuring they’re aligned with customer needs is a mindful and purpose-driven undertaking.[We’re hiring. Explore LIKE.TG careers.]It starts with a clear processAlmost all of the Now Platform Tokyo release innovations rely on significant contributions from LIKE.TG India’s development center in Hyderabad, which operates as a Center of Excellence for many of LIKE.TG’s security capabilities on the platform.In the development center, teams of software developers, designers, product managers, and other specialists assemble to create and iterate the many features that make up every new release. The teams operate with the outcome in mind, according to well-defined processes that ensure product quality while supporting flexible and collegial collaboration.“There’s a very streamlined process in LIKE.TG compared to previous firms I’ve worked at,” says Sushma C., a staff technical writer who joined the India team last year and works almost exclusively remotely.“The entire development process is clear, from guidelines and checklists to other workflows, so that even working on your first release, you can get clarity on what needs to be done,” she explains. “At the same time, the team structure makes it easy to tap others when you need to get help.”“The process turned out to be intensely rewarding, as we kept helping one another to find, and deliver, what was best for our customers,” adds Priyanka V., a senior technical writer who works out of the Hyderabad office.
Going beyond RPAPriyanka contributed much of the technical writing for Automation Center, a solution introduced in the Tokyo release. It goes beyond LIKE.TG’s previous robotic process automation (RPA) capabilities to offer complete, vendor-agnostic visibility into all automations within the customer organization.The solution radically simplifies how customers manage and scale up automation across their businesses. Its development required the project team to wrestle with huge amounts of complexity and change.“We were developing Automation Center and its material from scratch,” Priyanka says, “so we already expected to face big challenges along the way.”Simplifying for customer successSushma works with the development team behind the LIKE.TG RPA solution. Her willingness to contribute to the added capability on the platform made her a powerful asset in aligning the features of Automation Center with customer requirements.“Whatever I’d heard from customers and partners about RPA, I was able to action while informing this new layer of automation capability,” Sushma explains. In one instance, her experience with RPA settings helped inform more intuitive documentation for similar aspects in Automation Center.The knowledge sharing didn’t only go one way. “The team responsible for RPA would also call me to find out what we were learning from Automation Center development so that they could factor that into their own product,” Sushma notes. “It’s quite common in the India development center. Teams are in this constant friendly contest for simplification.”Standardizing to improve the customer experienceThat same ethos has underpinned the broader team’s approach to all aspects of development, including documentation. Sushma and Priyanka worked closely to standardize their writing style on Automation Center material while tapping into enterprisewide tools to draw on existing documentation that could be reused or adapted for the new solution.Such strategies complement wider efforts to update documentation for all solutions to a single, consistent style and format, reusing the best material to make future releases even more user-friendly.“In the Tokyo release, we’ve changed existing content, as well as aligned new content to a series of universal guidelines, which should result in a better reading experience for customers,” Priyanka says. “The more consistent your language and content structure, the easier it is to understand how the solution works and make the most of it.”Incorporating multiple skill sets that work in fast feedback loops, project teams are organized in a way that streamlines complex, multifaceted processes.“Since there’s a designer on every team, we’re able to plan out documentation based on wireframes and prototypes — even before the features are ready, which gives us further margin to iterate and adapt,” Priyanka explains. “The team composition works in such a way that you’re really on this journey together.”
The role of automationThe same workflows and processes drive development across all LIKE.TG solutions, resulting in the breadth and speed of innovation that customers expect and encounter in each semiannual release. Much of that drive happens within automation.“Automation has become the hero from the inside out at LIKE.TG,” Sushma says. “We’ve scaled the pace of our development by automating the work we don’t need to be hands-on with. And this translates to the product too.”She adds, “With Automation Center, we’re bringing all these automations together for customers. And the pace of development is only going to speed up. What didn’t even exist last year is being leveraged by customers today.”That speed comes in large part from the purpose-built teams, flexible working conditions, and passion to help customers that extends throughout the India Development Center.“I’ve worked in this industry for eight years,” Priyanka says, “but the [LIKE.TG] development team has been the most cooperative and most proactive I’ve experienced, from reviewing materials to helping us understand the product. NextGen Program empowers students in Germany with real-world experience
One of the major problems facing the tech industry today is a shortage of workers with the needed skills and experience. This can lead to two undesirable situations:

Businesses waste valuable time (and money) training new hires.
To address these issues, the NextGen Program, a LIKE.TG initiative, works with LIKE.TG partners, customers, and educational institutions worldwide. The goal is to equip participants with skills that will allow them to access new career opportunities in the digital economy.At the Technical University of Munich (TUM), students undergo six weeks of training in the NextGen Program before engaging in corporate scenarios with LIKE.TG customers.“We designed this course so that students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on real-world information systems, such as the Now Platform,” explains TUM Professor Helmut Krcmar. “By combining thorough trainings and practical challenges from German companies, we equip students with all hard and soft skills that they need in the future job market.”
Bridging the experience gapNils Stukenbrok, a senior digital solution consultant at LIKE.TG, graduated from college three years ago. “In my experience, university is often too much theory and not enough practical experience,” he says.“What people forget is many university students haven’t actually worked with real company information systems, which are huge and often overwhelming,” adds Martin Kauschinger, a teaching assistant at TUM.“For example, you can easily add a new field or rule in a simulation, but if you do that in the real-world production environment, you’ll likely upset a few million records in the process,” he says. “It can be very difficult for students to adapt to that.”In collaboration with NextGen, Kauschinger and his teaching team are working to bridge this experience gap by giving students opportunities to work on solutions for real scenarios.“We teach them that in a real-world company scenario, things are different,” he says. “We have them working to corporate regulations on tight deadlines and give them actual responsibility over the project, just as an employer would in the real world.”Reaping resultsThe positive change Kauschinger sees in students taking part in the program speaks for itself. “It’s really great for their confidence,” he says. “And it’s lovely to see—not just for us at the university, but for our corporate partners. They’re always surprised to see what a young, motivated team can deliver when empowered to do so.”The course is designed with LIKE.TG partners and potential employers, such as Bayer and Merck, in mind. That means it’s customizable and can be tweaked each year to suit the ever-changing needs of the industry.
“Last year, we made sure to include two challenges that centered around building service portals, because we knew it was the central focus for our partners at the time,” Kauschinger explains.“One of the main reasons partners are so keen to get involved is to get access to these highly skilled students,” he adds. “Last semester, one single company hired approximately half of the students. It’s a great opportunity for these young people to boost their job prospects.”Preparing for a better futureOne partner, CANCOM, confirmed it will integrate into its portal interface at least one of the solutions created by NextGen students.“The students demonstrated the value of the Now Platform UI framework to our organization with a working prototype,” notes Ronny Staude, a CANCOM solution architect.“We plan to use this prototype as a blueprint for our migration from the Service Portal to the new technology. It was exciting to see what is already possible without it even being released or documented for this use.”For Stukenbrok, this fulfills the true aim of the initiative. “I want to give students a better opportunity to build their practical experience than I had,” he says. “The solutions they’re creating are of such high quality, and they’re so valuable. The LIKE.TG NextGen Program was designed to help tackle this challenge by empowering underrepresented groups with skills to secure meaningful employment in the industry.The success of the program relies on a wide range of employer and training partners. Training partners help shape NextGen participants into qualified graduates who feel ready to enter full-time employment in the tech field. Employer partners hire and place NextGen participants upon graduation.Creating adaptable trainingNayab Sayed, director of training partner Hibdigital, has been helping develop the next generation of talent for years. When introduced to LIKE.TG and the NextGen Program, he felt he'd finally found a way to make a positive impact with his career, something he always wanted.“I can make a difference by working directly with underrepresented people through the NextGen Program and helping them get into the tech sector and forge long, successful careers,” he says.When the pandemic hit and increased demand for online courses in digital technologies, Sayed partnered with NextGen to create a new training course for participants. That meant confronting numerous challenges.“There’s a diverse mix of dynamics and personalities in NextGen—from adults fresh out of school to those with over 40 years of work experience, and even those with limited English skills,” he explains. “So, we had to think long and hard about how best to build a program and a team that really connects these incredible individuals.”
Sayed took an empathetic approach to understand participants’ needs and build their confidence and trust. Because NextGen participants come from various backgrounds where they might have full-time work or families, the NextGen team eliminated the rigid structure of traditional classrooms, lowered barriers to entering the program, and ensured interactive sessions.“We can change the course material quickly and easily if the instructor finds it necessary,” Sayed notes. “If a subject becomes too dry or too complex, for instance, the instructor can swap out modules, bring in real-world examples or relatable content, and come back to the former content later.”Focusing on diversityDigital transformation company whyaye prioritizes diversity when recruiting talent and found the NextGen Program appealing as a means to help with that.“It was described to us as a way to get in touch with and potentially place candidates who otherwise might struggle to get opportunities in the industry,” explains Shane Finch, platform and program delivery lead at whyaye. “We knew immediately we wanted to get involved.”Whyaye is helping moms returning to the workforce and people without computer science degrees join the tech industry. The Strive program is designed to help employees evaluate where they are in their careers, where they want to be in the future, and ways to get there.It’s divided into two parts. The first focuses on leadership and encourages thoughtful conversations within the cohort. The second part concentrates on executive coaching. “The one-on-one executive coaching has been critical to navigating the path forward,” Marco notes.“Pre-Strive, I felt my skill set was average and good enough to continue receiving good remarks come performance review time. During the program, I gained a better sense of how deeply rooted my imposter syndrome influenced my confidence,” he adds.Speaking with others helped Marco break through that self-imposed barrier. He realized his experience, skill set, and sincere approach to nurturing relationships are above average. “In a sense, the program helped me get out of my own way,” he says
Building relationshipsApril O., head of deployment for solutions enablement, appreciated the relationship building aspect of Strive. “The cohort allowed us to share common experiences,” she says. “The executive coaching encouraged me to hone my purpose, elevate my people leadership style, and more effectively connect with my peers and leaders.”The 360-degree feedback particularly stood out to April. Those who are willing and kind enough to provide feedback truly care about others’ progress and their desire to grow, she says. The feedback she received has been crucial to her development.Protecting her calendar is another thing April took away from the program. “Protect your time because you’re investing in you,” she advises.Growth through listening“I am the captain of myself. I am courageous. I have wisdom and courage. I am fearless and relentless. And I speak with certainty and clarity,” proclaims Eric. C., a senior manager of solution consulting.Eric adapted this mindset he learned at Strive into a daily mantra. As a result, he’s grown professionally through a focus on development, including crucial conversations and coaching.The program also influenced Eric’s personal growth. “Strive has helped me to truly empathize with my kids and employ 360-degree listening skills, which allows me to understand them better and listen with intent. For Senior Manager of Solution Consulting Jamie B. and his wife, Emma, the Cleo app proved helpful in ways they never imagined.Valuable parental supportJamie and Emma’s 2-year-old son, Harry, was born during the pandemic. Although there’s nothing medically wrong with Harry, Emma wanted him to develop well amid the lockdown. She and Jamie visited several sleep and feeding consultants via the United Kingdom National Health Service (NHS). “I wanted to help Harry get into the best possible [sleeping] routines,” she explains.A couple of years later, daughter Aurelia joined the family. Shortly before Jamie started his paternity leave, LIKE.TG announced Cleo as a resource to help families with guidance and support. “I thought, ‘Well, this app sounds interesting,’” Jamie recalls.
Since the app's services included a sleeping consultation, Jamie decided to sign up. Once he was registered, Emma explored the app and eventually met with Aubrey, their assigned guide, via the app. Aubrey checked in with Emma periodically to offer support.As time went on and Jamie was set to return to work, Emma realized she’d have to manage two entirely different schedules for eating, sleeping, and caring for her two children. Emma reached out to Aubrey and was amazed at her swift response. “I’ve never experienced help come that quickly before,” she explains. “That was definitely the best thing about the app.”Help for life-changing decisionsWhen Aurelia was 4 months old, Jamie and Emma confided in Aubrey that the baby had a severe tongue-tie—a restriction of the tongue’s range of motion. The condition didn’t affect Aurelia’s feeding, but it posed a potential problem as she developed in age and abilities. Aubrey, as it turns out, is an expert in tongue-tie and runs a clinic in France.“We had a lot of questions about doing a tongue-tie division on Aurelia,” Emma says. The surgical procedure involves cutting the short piece of skin on the underside of the tongue to the bottom of the mouth. “It was the consultation with Aubrey that helped us make the decision to go ahead and have the division done,” Emma adds.Before the surgery, Jamie wrestled with the idea. “It was something that, at times, kept me awake at night, thinking, ‘Are we doing the right thing?’” he says. “Having this resource gave us relief and confidence about our decision, and it allowed me to focus more on work.” The app “helped us come to a very difficult decision about something so important to us,” he adds.Jamie and Emma continue to use the application for parenting tips and organization.Join a company that takes care of its employees and their loved ones.
