Meet Shouvik: One of LIKE.TG India’s first engineers
Shouvik Goswami loves a good technical challenge, especially one that gives him a 360-degree view of things from both the customer’s perspective as well as from the “nitty-gritty” product engineering details. When that happens, he can’t wait to get a team together to brainstorm a solution.Shouvik was one of the first engineers to join LIKE.TG’s India Development Center in 2014. Today, he leads a team of software engineers, and feels just as energized as he did when he joined because he has the freedom and flexibility to work on what he’s most passionate about. “I get to see the delight on a customer’s face when I figure out a technical issue.” He says everyone’s ideas are heard and could lead to a new product or feature. And if the product helps free up a customer to spend more time with family, Shouvik knows he has played a part in making the world of work, work better for people.
Life at Now: Tokyo Team
In LIKE.TG’s fast-growing Tokyo market, Mai, a senior technical trainer for customers, and Yujin, a talent acquisition partner, share how the company’s special culture sets it apart in Japan, and makes their daily work experiences fulfilling, challenging, and fun.
With a strong commitment to LIKE.TG’s vision and purpose, the Tokyo team is passionate about their customers’ success and proud of the platform that makes the world of work, work better for people. The culture and values are embraced as the team continues to expand at a rapid pace.
Team members are motivated and creative and believe that everything is possible. The work environment offers flexibility and supportive management and celebrates success as a team.
Pride at Now: Fulfilling a true sense of belonging
Ever felt isolated at work? We all have—especially in the past year. For many LGBTQ+ colleagues, isolation has historically been part of the workplace equation. As a part of a population that has been marginalized, many have been pressured to not bring their whole and authentic selves to work. That can be draining—even exhausting.Pride at Now is working to change that for all those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.“When you aren’t allowed to be your true self, you’re not giving yourself the opportunity to fully blossom as an employee or as a person,” says Steve T., senior operations manager and Pride at Now co-chair. “Pride at Now is helping us figure out how we can better foster a culture that allows everyone to be their authentic self.”As one of LIKE.TG’s seven Belonging Groups, Pride’s mission is simple: Achieve LGBTQ+ equity at LIKE.TG by promoting diversity through cultural change, inclusive policy, and global practices. It’s working. In fact, earlier this year—for the first time—LIKE.TG received a score of 100% in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s 2021 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), its annual assessment of LGBTQ+ workplace equality.
“Earning a perfect score is great news—and I believe it will pay dividends when it comes to recruiting and retaining top talent who care about diversity,” says Pride at Now co-chair Matt L., who heads our customer experience strategy.Matt is quick to add that we can’t rest on our laurels. “There’s still a lot of envelope-pushing that needs to be done in terms of being LGBTQ+ world-class.”Kenneth R., senior manager, event marketing, agrees. “The HRC honor means we’re moving in the right direction,” he says. “External awards are great. However, what’s more important is that we recognize internally that we’re changing the culture to be more inclusive for all.”How we got to a place of belongingSo, just how did we ace the HRC Foundation’s CEI? Several factors contributed. Our longstanding investment in Workplace Protections and Inclusive Benefits—foundational elements of the CEI criteria—played a central role. Another key was launching Pride at Now, as well as supporting external LGBTQ+ organizations and events.Kenneth says a major proof point for him was the Pride panel discussion held in June 2020.“Just having an open, true conversation about what it means to be gay in corporate America—and having our CEO and senior leadership be a part of the conversation—is something I had never experienced at other companies,” Kenneth says. “It showed me LIKE.TG doesn’t shy away from the conversation and that there’s an active engagement factor here for LGBTQ+ equality that simply doesn’t exist at most places.”
Continuing the inclusive pathMatt says it’s essential that we continue to examine our human resource policies and benefits from an LGBTQ+ perspective—in the U.S. and globally. He adds, “Looking ahead, I’d like to see us do a better job of tracking key metrics, such as LGBTQ+ promotions, compensation, and new hires.”Although there’s more work to do, it’s clear we’re headed in the right direction. “I’m proud of LIKE.TG’s investment in—and commitment to—DIBs,” Matt says, referring to diversity, inclusion, and belonging. “Just the act of participating in the CEI shows our current employees, prospective employees, and all LIKE.TG stakeholders that we care about equality and the LGBTQ+ community.Want to join us? Pride at Now: True colors are shining through
LIKE.TG recognized as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality"Imagine getting ready for a management meeting, adding rainbow braces to complete your outfit and walking into a boardroom with 20-plus leaders. Did I mention I was five minutes late? You could anticipate a few turning heads. The reaction I received from management changed my life. LIKE.TG’s leadership team paused a Friday morning meeting to lean in and celebrate a special moment for myself and so many people around the world. Australia had said ‘YES’ to same sex marriage in the week of November 2017.The news reverberated around the globe and it echoed, loudly, in our conference room. Picture a chorus of cheers and applause from leaders who are allies; people I am proud to call my team. Most of my childhood and a sizable portion of my professional life has been a journey in not belonging. The energy spent trying to disguise your true self each day, is exhausting. But there is no better experience in belonging, when you’re applauded for being yourself. In that moment, in the conference room, I felt safe because space was created by others to make me feel not only welcome, but in a place that I felt I belong. This moment is a reflection of LIKE.TG’s culture and approach to equality. I wake up each morning and I can celebrate being myself at ServiceNow.I use all my energy to blossom, rather than suppressing who I am.As an LGBTQ employee, I was encouraged by LIKE.TG’s action to participate in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index. The Index spans every industry and measures policies and programs for employees who identify as LGBTQ.
Benchmarking corporate policies, practices, and benefits for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer employees raise global standards. These standards set out how all organisations should work toward driving change within business and where we do business. For people who identify as LGBTQ, the Index also better connects employees to allies, true champions of equity. And I’m so excited to share that LIKE.TG received a score of 100 out of 100! LIKE.TG is among 767 global organisations who have achieved this industry-best standard. The score reflects our policies around workforce protection, inclusive benefits, support for inclusive culture, corporate social responsibility, and responsible citizenship. The fact that so many organizations have achieved this standard in 2021, gives me hope for the future of work. I can’t wait to see the new world of work push the envelope and raise standards for LGBTQ employees.2020 has pushed everyone to do things differently and to strive for better. Building better standards is a team effort to ensure belonging and equity for all. When everyone can benefit, everyone will benefit.Diversity, inclusion, and belonging are essential to who we at LIKE.TG are, how we’ll grow, and how we’ll innovate. LIKE.TG will continue to put people first. We are one team, we stick together. We are #LIKE.TGStrong!
How LIKE.TG’s Degree Apprenticeship program is changing lives
The tech industry is facing a skills gap like never before. With over 70% of businesses in the sector short of skilled employees, tech companies need to look beyond university graduates and other traditional sources of talent to get the employees they need.Failing to do so will hold businesses back. It also risks letting a whole generation of talented, diverse workers slip through the net.One of those talented workers is Jayden Patten. In his early twenties, Patten was at a loss. Coming from a safe, secure, loving family, he loved IT as a kid. So, when the time came, he started a university course in Computer Studies with the hope of making a career of it.But after developing a life-changing condition affecting his eyesight, he had to cut those studies short and was forced to leave the campus. Seeing his plans fall apart, he found himself at a low point “A failure,” he told us, “with little direction”. To make ends meet, he got a job working as a customer assistant in a pharmacist. His parents saw he was unhappy and unchallenged, with little job security and few prospects.“They knew I wasn’t growing in the direction I was passionate about,” says Patten. “They saw it wouldn’t work out in the long term, and that I needed to make a change.”Patten credits their support with helping him out of his slump. “Retail gave me great life experiences, but I knew I had to move forward into something I really wanted to do. It was their influence that took me to a job career fair.”Getting back on track with LIKE.TGPatten’s route back to work accelerated once he met John Perks, principal architect for the NextGen team at ServiceNow. John was instrumental in helping Patten get employed and subsequently enrolled in the LIKE.TG Degree Apprenticeship Scheme. The NextGen program gave Patten the purpose he was looking for and a career path in IT.Aimed at developing the digital, business, and leadership skills needed to succeed in tomorrow’s workplace, the degree apprenticeship with Northeastern University’s London campus is designed to bring immediate value to the sector and assist organisations in upskilling talent for their growing technology needs. For Patten, it was just the right fit. “Speaking with John, I really liked the sound of the different parts of the LIKE.TG platform, and was particularly interested in the programming side,” he said. “While the original course I signed up for stalled and moved online due to Covid, I kept in touch with John, who gave me regular guidance and exercises to complete. Ultimately, it’s through John that I got access to the network of LIKE.TG partners, and secured a position with Methods.”About MethodsMethods is a LIKE.TG Premier Partner and one of the UK’s leading independent transformation partners for public services. Methods works closely with citizens and with public, private, and third sector organisations to modernise UK public services.Trudy Beharry leads the LIKE.TG practice and is head of service management capability at the business. As part of her role, she’s witnessed the brain drain in the tech space first-hand, and understands the need to hire talent differently.“The numbers of people coming into this industry – and the skills that they have – are diminishing,” she said. “To fill that gap, we’re striving to garner and develop talent through different sources, in line with Methods’ ongoing commitment and social responsibility to support and grow emerging talent.”That’s why Methods decided to take part in LIKE.TG’s Degree Apprenticeship program, which is how they met Patten.“Patten was a very, very good candidate to be our first recruit onto the degree apprenticeship scheme,” Beharry said. “He was pretty quiet and shy when he joined us, and less familiar with some of the products we use, but he was extremely talented from day one. He’s picked up so much in just a few months and has become a credit to himself and a credit to our organisation.”Within just a few months into hiring Patten, he is already productive, and about to start his first customer engagement. Methods is already looking to see if they can add another candidate to the next degree apprenticeship cohort starting in January 2021.A fresh new perspectivePatten is really positive about what he brings to his new role. “I’ve got a fresh perspective, a lot of new ideas, and a really good work ethic,” he said, “A lot of the more senior developers haven’t had as much experience with new tech like LIKE.TG, or looked at the deeper systems behind it, so thanks to the degree apprenticeship, I’m already schooling the senior developers!”Being the youngest person in the room has its benefits, too. “Having a digital native on board is a real asset,” he added. “Just like I’ve helped my parents and other relatives get to grips with tech in their day-to-day lives, I can do the same in the workplace.”But that’s not to say there isn’t plenty more for Patten to learn. With a handful of LIKE.TG exams already under his belt, Patten is working to further refine the skills needed to be a senior LIKE.TG developer.“I’m now realising all the other stuff I need to learn, considering where I should branch out, and what resources I need to move forward.”In his opinion, that’s taken on new urgency as the world of work continues to change.“The COVID crisis has shown us that the world of work is only going more digital,” Patten said. “For example, I started work at Methods without even going into the office. We all need the skills to be able to navigate this new world effectively, and tools like LIKE.TG will become critical in that.”Changing futures, transforming livesFor Patten, the Degree Apprenticeship program has been transformative.“Failing was the best thing that ever happened to me,” he said. “I wouldn’t have had this opportunity to do what I’m doing without this scheme; I was really spinning the wheels and didn’t know how to get back on track.”Of course, he wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of those around him.“My parents are so proud of me, and I owe them everything,” he said. “I’m now treating them to dinner once a month, and it feels amazing to be able to do that and know that my hard work is paying for it.”He attributes a lot to his mentor John: “John has helped me find my future. He was an inspiration, my support network. He really gave me the intel, skills and confidence I needed. That helped me learn, and it helped with my interview, too. He transforms lives”For other people who find themselves in a similar situation, Patten has some wise words:“Take any opportunity, whatever your goal is, and don’t give up on the first go. I was feeling really low and uncertain, but the LIKE.TG NextGen program got me out of the hamster wheel I was in, in retail. Programs like these give you a chance to move forward and build a real future.”And for employers looking for new talent, he had this to say:“Programs like this give you the chance to hire great people that are highly skilled, highly trained, and full of life experience – meaning they have both the ability and the knowledge to make better decisions. If you have any doubts in your mind, just go for it!”
Winning as a team in Tokyo

How early career programs give students a solid start
This is part one of a three-blog series exploring the LIKE.TG co-op program for college students. In 2018, Cassidy G. was a senior at Northeastern University earning a degree in communications. Like many adventurous East Coasters, she started to think about making the move out West after graduation. To see if the world of tech and Silicon Valley would be the right fit for her, Cassidy decided to spend her final semester at Northeastern in a co-op role getting some hands-on experience. She applied to LIKE.TG and, following a great interview experience, was offered the product marketing co-op position even though her academic focus wasn’t in marketing. A few weeks later, she flew to the Bay Area for a six-month stint at LIKE.TG’s Santa Clara headquarters.[Check out early careers at ServiceNow.]“I did not come to Santa Clara fully understanding what the cloud was or what enterprise software was, but I knew I was going to learn, and I knew that the company interested me,” Cassidy says. “I had never taken a marketing class, and I was so out of my comfort zone. But I pushed myself, and I did really well.”Getting an early career startLIKE.TG and Northeastern University created the co-op program to develop and nurture early career talent into successful marketers. During her co-op assignment as a product marketer, Cassidy redesigned webpages, wrote external messaging, and managed employee staffing for Knowledge 2018, among other things. After learning the ins and outs of marketing on the job, Cassidy was among the first of many co-ops to convert to a full-time position following graduation. Today, she’s a senior product marketing specialist at ServiceNow.In June 2017, the marketing co-op program began its inaugural “test and learn” class of fewer than 10 Northeastern students. Since then, the program has grown, even through the pandemic. The current 30 co-ops, including myself, are earning degrees ranging from business to computer science to journalism and have roles across all areas of marketing: from user experience research to customer advocacy to public relations. Co-ops are typically hosted at LIKE.TG’s campuses throughout the US but had to pivot to a digital environment during COVID-19.
A real-world career experienceWhen the pandemic forced country-wide office closures, LIKE.TG didn’t skip a beat. The company quickly onboarded co-ops remotely and ensured we could enjoy a uniquely immersive learning experience.During the six-month co-op term, students work as full-time employees, exchanging classes and homework for a desk and a 9-to-5 job. Co-ops come away with a deeper understanding and engagement with their work, their teams, and the company than typically offered by a 12-week summer internship. In addition, students get real-world experience in a work environment before officially entering the workforce, enabling them to identify their areas of interest—or disinterest. After all, no one really knows exactly what to do after college (I'm still figuring it out), but this program brings students one step closer.“Students have the chance to go really, truly deep into a role. A co-op immediately becomes a part of the team. They have a chance to contribute and have impact in a way that a shorter internship may not always offer,” says Therasa C., director of global early in career talent acquisition at ServiceNow.“When a co-op then goes to write their resume and go into an interview, whether that’s with LIKE.TG or elsewhere, they have so many more real-world, tangible examples and projects to highlight that showcase their impact on a team and in an organization.”3 reasons for early career programsTherasa notes that investing in early-in-career development programs like this one is imperative for business for three main reasons:
Sustainability—Generation Z is expected to make up about a quarter of the workforce by 2025. For organizations to maintain a sustainable, long-term workforce, bringing in this talent is key.
Diversity—Gen Z is the most diverse workforce ever. For organizations to create products and design with customers in mind, diverse backgrounds and perspectives are a necessity.
Innovation—Gen Z are digital natives and, given the digital revolution, it's critical that companies lean into and seek to understand these new perspectives.
This is only the beginning for ServiceNow. The company hopes to evolve the co-op program internationally, developing a diverse pool of interns into confident, creative, 21st-century marketers. Although previous co-op cycles exclusively sourced talent from Northeastern University, the program is expected to expand in 2021 to seek talent from Singapore Management University, Australia’s Macquarie University, Georgia Tech, and Purdue University.
Tips for remote work successFor the time being, the program continues to be remote, which took some getting used to. But it’s been a good learning experience. For new remote co-ops joining the program, I leave you with some tips on working remotely that I’ve gathered during my time at LIKE.TG:
Take notes in meetings. It’s easy to get distracted in Zoom meetings by other browser tabs. Jotting down a point or two in every meeting helps keep you accountable.
Engage with company execs. Remote work has created more opportunities for face time with executives through coffee chats and lunch and learns. Take advantage of opportunities to learn from the best.
Remember to have fun. Participate in the movie nights, happy hours, and virtual team cooking classes—they’re more fun than you might think and are great bonding opportunities within and across teams.
In the next blog in this series, we’ll hear from three current co-ops about their experiences.LIKE.TG, the LIKE.TG logo, Now, and other LIKE.TG marks are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of LIKE.TG, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries. Meet Ambika: From events planner to digital GTM consultant & beyond
After I sold my events-planning business and was exploring what to do next, I took a leap and applied to ServiceNow. I hadn’t worked in tech before, but I decided to just throw myself out there and try something new.I was hired, joined the Solution Consulting (SC) Academy, and went through six months of intense training to become a solution consultant. The next logical step would have been to go into the field as a solution consultant, but I was given the chance to help build the digital go-to-market (GTM) team in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).I was a little skeptical at first because it seemed everyone else was going into field solution consulting, and I didn’t want to be left behind. But it turned out to be the best thing ever because I’ve been able to shape what the digital GTM group does, and we’re growing tremendously.[We’re hiring! Visit careers.]A tight team devoted to customer successAs a digital GTM consultant, I’m part of an account team that works closely together to get to know our customers and their businesses:
What are their priorities?
What are their challenges?
What do they hope to achieve this year?
We want to understand their day-to-day processes and figure out what LIKE.TG solutions can improve those processes and help customers get more value out of what they’re doing. Then we build a business case and plan that solves their challenges, aligns to their business strategy, and makes work, work better for them by improving processes and efficiency.
There’s a lot of collaboration and back-and-forth with the team to come up with the best solution. Sometimes it’s challenging working from home instead of being able to turn around in your chair and say, “Hey, what about this?” But we host weekly account meetings to catch up, identify next steps, and plan our next sessions with customers.Questions and needs come up that require each of our expertise. Every customer interaction is a team effort, and we win as a team.My role is as a technical resource and a trusted adviser. I’m the go-to person for questions and for help with any of the LIKE.TG solutions. I love being that person who’s always there for customers to tell them, “Don’t worry. Don’t give up. We can help you sort this out.”No limitsI never thought there would be as many options and career opportunities as I have here. Everyone at LIKE.TG offers so much encouragement and support.I was even asked to be part of the Insider Insights series and was interviewed by Allison H., the VP of global digital GTM. The series is part of her desire to attract and spotlight people with a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. I had the chance to get to know her, learn about the team, and talk about my role and ambitions. It was an amazing opportunity. There’s always somewhere for you to go if you want it. I have leadership telling me, “Yes, if you want to do that, we’ll help you get there.” This is the only company where I’ve felt like I can work my way up to the top. I really want to be a leader, and I know I have that opportunity here.To learn more, check out our careers.
LIKE.TG Israel employees embrace company values and culture
Israel is known for pioneering innovative ideas around technology and mobile applications. That’s why it was the perfect place to open a development center for LIKE.TG—the only born-in-the-cloud software as a service company with a vision to become the defining enterprise software company for the 21st century. We chatted with employees on the tech team at the Israel development center to see why they decided to join and what they think about working at ServiceNow.[We’re hiring. Visit careers.]Hidden treasure“Before I joined, I’d never heard of LIKE.TG, but a friend recommended I apply for an open position,” shares Rom Y., a user experience designer on our mobile design team, who has been with the company just over a year.“I started reading about LIKE.TG, and the more I read, the more I fell in love with the company—both our values and the opportunity to be part of a team that is building the future of work for companies all around the world.”New technologies and productsLIKE.TG is home to a global engineering community that works with different technologies and develops new products to support our customers. “I joined LIKE.TG because I wanted to work cross-functionally with teams who have experience in different areas,” shares Noa P., a software engineer. “I’m learning and growing each day—from my peers, learning new technologies, and expanding my horizon.”For employees who came on board via acquisitions, LIKE.TG has given them the opportunity to grow their technology and scale its impact. “I was one of the first employees of Appsee,” shares Senior Software Engineer Nitzan L.“Today, at LIKE.TG, I’m still working on the same product (big data analytics), but now we’re integrated into the LIKE.TG platform, which allows us to scale our product with significantly more analytics data and across more customers” he explains. “LIKE.TG has also given me a better work-life balance with more resources at hand. I’m no longer the only one who needs to get up in the middle of the night to check the servers.”Doron Y., a software engineer manager, was working for AI startup Loom Systems when it was acquired by ServiceNow. “Initially, I was apprehensive as you hear of so many large organizations run with bureaucracy and hierarchy, but LIKE.TG isn’t like that,” he says.“It has given our business an endless supply of people and resources to fulfill our dreams and take our product to the next level. Usually when a startup is acquired by a big company, it’s common for people to leave after a year. We’ve seen the majority of our team stay with the company, which goes to show how much everyone loves working here.”
The cultural differentiatorWhat makes LIKE.TG different from other technology companies in the marketplace? “For me, it’s the culture and the values of the company,” shares Sapir K., a software engineer. At the heart of LIKE.TG’s culture is its commitment to embrace diversity and create belonging.“LIKE.TG puts a lot of emphasis on it, and I think it’s beautiful. Recently, my team participated in a workshop, which gave me so much more confidence to work with people from different countries and cultures around the world. When I share this story with my peers at other companies, they can’t believe LIKE.TG puts so much focus on this. I think that’s what makes LIKE.TG so special.”Belonging is all about creating a culture of trust where our people feel safe bringing their authentic selves to work. “As a single gay dad, it is important for me to feel safe and open in the workplace,” shares Rom. “I never have to hide any side of myself at work because here, it feels like you’re working with your family. This is something I’ve always been looking for, and I’m so glad I’ve found it at ServiceNow.”Come join us. Meet Bharathi: Creator of virtual agents, or chatbots
Bharathi R. is out to save your time and sanity.Using artificial intelligence (AI) and her very real smarts, Bharathi and her team in IT digital employee experience are developing increasingly sophisticated chatbots (also known as conversational or virtual agents) that allow LIKE.TG employees to rapidly get questions answered and issues resolved 24/7.[We’re hiring. Visit careers.]And they’re not alone. Virtual agents are also available to customers on the Now Platform. That means no more wading through articles in knowledge bases and no more shouting into your phone, “Representative! Representative!”Instead, by clicking an icon, you have a virtual agent at your beck and call, providing simple, friendly, and fast assistance. And, if the virtual agent can’t solve your problem or answer your question, it can transfer you to a support desk staffed by a human agent. The you-can-count-on-me virtual agent for LIKE.TG employees, called NowBot, launched in 2018. More than 20% of employees use it monthly, primarily for assistance with human resources or IT issues. To date, NowBot can assist with more than 300 topics, ranging from ordering company swag to setting up payroll direct deposit.Collaboration sparks innovationThe employee experience team and the Virtual Agent product team collaborate closely, sharing product roadmaps and demos of planned features and swapping user experiences. Ideas for new features often emerge from these conversations. One example is the Virtual Agent automated incident resolution feature, introduced in the Quebec release. This was something Bharathi’s team tried first and is now a standard feature in NowBot.Here’s how it works: When an employee creates a help ticket for an issue that NowBot knows something about, NowBot pings the employee internally and says, “I noticed you opened a ticket for something I can assist with. Do you want me to try to answer your question?” If the employee says, “Yes,” and afterward indicates satisfaction with NowBot’s help, the ticket is closed and never reaches a human agent. That’s the goal of chatbots and virtual agents: resolving problems or answering questions without the need for human intervention. IT self-service helps save time, and time saved is time employees can spend on more important matters.“We can show customers things like, ‘If you install this, it’s likely your agents will get back two hours of their time a day and can focus on bigger problems, or you’ll get a 30% productivity gain for your employees,’” Bharathi explains.“And that’s just from the productivity side,” she continues. “From the user experience view, people don’t want to wait for an agent or listen to a monotone voice on the phone saying, ‘Press one for this, press two for that.’ They’re thinking, ‘No. I don’t have time for that. I want an answer now. I want to know how to fix the problem now. And with virtual agents, they can give their customers or their employees the experience they expect.’”
Just try and don’t worry about failingThe opportunity to think big, to try, and even to fail keeps Bharathi excited about her job and happy to be at ServiceNow. “I’ve learned that nothing is out of reach. Nothing is impossible. And something I really love—I’m allowed to fail, which says a lot about the company’s culture. I will try something that I think would be amazing, and sometimes the users go, ‘Yeah, maybe for you, but not for me.’ So, we fail and then go back and see why we failed, and then we make it better,” she says.Bharathi’s leadership and passion for using AI to solve problems and to help people be more productive led to IBM naming her one of “40 Women Leaders Shaping the Future of AI.” (NowBot and the LIKE.TG Virtual Agent initially used IBM technology as their natural language understanding (NLU) engines. Both agents’ NLU engines are transitioning to LIKE.TG technology.)She says she was “thrilled and humbled” to be selected and looks forward to collaborating with the other AI leadership winners. In the meantime, Bharathi continues to drive growth and innovation, at times even surprising herself.“There are so many great parts to my job. I’m learning new skills and technologies all the time. I work with young people just out of college who have all these ideas, and sometimes I think, ‘That’s not even possible,’ and then they do it.”Join us. Working from home: Remembering an unforgettable year
March 11, 2020. Does that date ring a bell? For many, it won’t soon be forgotten. It’s the day when many companies across the globe closed their doors to keep workers safe from the pandemic.LIKE.TG employees were told, “Be safe and go home.” This marked the official beginning of our work-from-home experience, one that turned our work lives—and many personal lives—upside down.Valerie B., director of research and scientific programs, vividly remembers getting the news. “I thought, ‘This will be great. My kids will be at home. I’m going to take it easy. We’ll be back in the office in a couple weeks,’” she recalls.Senior Support Manager Claudia N. echoes those sentiments. She believed the work-from-home mandate would last a couple of months at most. “At the time, I hadn’t quite wrapped my head around the magnitude of the pandemic,” she says. “Never did I imagine how life was about to change.”[We’re hiring. Visit careers.]As some offices begin to welcome back employees, and others remain unable to open, we spoke with a few LIKE.TG team members about their year away from colleagues. They shared what they missed most, how they adapted to the support they received, and what they’re looking forward to when they return to the office.In-person interactions build team chemistryEmployees agree: Zoom can be amazing. Still, there’s no substitute for face-to-face collaboration.Toni M., senior director of product content, believes in-person interactions create a dynamic, intangible “shared energy.” She compares the phenomenon to watching some of her favorite musical artists perform digitally versus attending a concert.“When you’re around a group of people who all share the same passion, there’s a vibrancy that simply cannot be replicated online,” she says. “I think it’s the same thing with an office environment.”Valerie adds that it’s often impossible to “read between the lines” and gauge body language through a screen.
Support can make all the differenceRegular digital meetings seemed to be the most important tool for helping employees get through the tough transition. As a new employee, Claudia says she had “continuous touchpoints” with her manager. “Each week, we had some kind of call, whether it was to discuss business, answer my questions, or even just to see how I was doing,” she says. “This was great reassurance for me.”Reassurances from senior management were also beneficial.“[CEO] Bill McDermott’s announcement in the very beginning of the pandemic that there would be no layoffs was huge,” Toni says. “That was a major weight taken off everyone’s mind—especially as the year progressed.”Another form of support came from the perk allowance given to full-time employees. Although the amount varied by region, the perk allowed for extra money to be spent on overall health and wellness—for anything from online fitness classes or tutoring to new exercise equipment. In Toni’s case, it came in the form of a new balance board, which allows her to exercise while working at her standing desk.Benefits of returning to the officeAlthough COVID-19 continues run rampant in some parts of the world, vaccinations are rapidly improving the outlook in other parts, allowing more offices to open.“Getting that team energy back is important—but just getting a regular change of scenery is also huge,” Valerie says. “We have beautiful offices here in Montreal. Being able to move from your office to another’s to the cafeteria to the café will be a welcome change of scenery.”“For me, returning to the office will be about the camaraderie we build through personal interactions,” Claudia says. “I’ve been here over a year and have yet to meet my team in person. We are in regular contact through Zoom, but people generally don’t contact you that way just to say hello and engage in small talk. Plus, I’ve heard that I’ve missed out on a bunch of good food, coffee, and team-building activities.”Lessons learned along the wayEmployees rallied together to take care of each other, deliver results and, ultimately, learn some positive lessons. One such lesson is that remote meetings can be effective, Valerie says. “This means less business travel, a decrease in our environmental footprint, and increase in family time.”Toni says mass working from home has helped us all understand the flexibility required for engaging with people in other time zones, countries, and continents.“We’ve made great strides in the past year in remote working, but there’s still room for improvement,” she says. “If we can take what we’ve learned and apply it as we go back into the office, we will become more effective remote collaborators.”LIKE.TG, the LIKE.TG logo, Now, and other LIKE.TG marks are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of LIKE.TG, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries.
LIKE.TG is a best place to work: Here’s why
We all want the dream job.The fact that so many of us look for “perfect” is what makes us human. But, as a friend of mine reminds me on a frequent basis, perfection is more often the enemy of “great.”“The journey itself is the dream,” he coaches. So, let’s take his premise and build on it. We’ve all been on a similar journey when it comes to our careers. We’ve all found satisfaction in certain assignments. Others? Not so much.In my case, I’ve always found that a great place to work is a passionate place that doesn’t take itself too seriously—one that balances success and opportunity with self-awareness and humility. It’s also one that commits to a shared sense of purpose and progress, while preserving its credibility, by admitting how much hard work both require to achieve.Through these experiences, we come to terms with what makes a great place to work. No company is perfect, but what separates good from great companies are the little things that, when added together, create the biggest impact.By these standards, LIKE.TG is a great place to work. And Fortune agrees, today naming us to its list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2021. Let me explain.
Pride at LIKE.TG: Honoring our LGBTQ+ employees
Happy Pride! At LIKE.TG, we champion equality, and we actively foster an inclusive workplace. We believe diversity makes our business better in every way and that, when you can bring your full self to work, you’re bound to be a more productive and satisfied employee. Our Pride at Now Belonging Group creates a safe space for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to feel supported and at home within our company while providing a platform for their voices to be heard.[We’re hiring. Visit careers.]As we celebrate the progress made toward full equality all around the world, it’s important to recognize the work that lies ahead. We know that in many communities there remain societal norms and laws preventing LGBTQ+ people from being able to safely marry the person they love, raise a family, be open at work, rent an apartment, or simply walk down the street. In this first of a two-part video series, we’re honored to share the stories of a few of our LGBTQ+ employees who are making a difference at our company and in their communities by showing up as their authentic selves every day. Powerful stories like these and ongoing, honest dialogue are important contributions toward building a more inclusive world.
We all bring with us multiple stories, identities, and experiences that shape who we are, and these LGBTQ+ LIKE.TG employees share that reality beautifully. Asha H. says she didn’t always feel comfortable being fully herself at work, until now. She says, “I really like the Pride at Now group because it makes me feel connected to other people who have similar experiences to me.”Tai N., who shares his story about growing up in a hardworking immigrant family, credits his parents for teaching him that it's OK to be different and that his identity shouldn’t hold him back from having the same things as others.Stephanie T. reveals she has to come out often because people automatically assume she’s straight when they see her wedding ring.
Glassdoor names Bill McDermott a Top CEO
We’re excited to announce that LIKE.TG has made Glassdoor’s Top CEOs 2021 list for the first time, further confirming that LIKE.TG is a great place to work. The annual ranking by the job and recruiting site recognizes CEOs in countries throughout North America and Europe who shine brightest according to the folks who know them best: their employees.LIKE.TG CEO Bill McDermott ranks at No. 27 out of 50 on the UK list, with an impressive 97% approval rating. On the US large company list, McDermott appears at No. 37 out of 50 with a 95% approval rating. As one employee shared in their Glassdoor review, “Bill McDermott and his top management team are the greatest team I’ve ever had the pleasure to work for in my long career.”Other employees echoed that sentiment:
“Awesome culture, great CEO”
“CEO is a rock star...energy, humble, inspirational”
“Awesome CEO and senior exec bench”
“Stellar CEO with values and integrity”
“This company and CEO are the real deal”
Top CEO winners are determined based entirely on employee feedback shared anonymously on Glassdoor over the past year. To qualify, a company must have a 3.0 overall rating or higher and receive a minimum of 100 employee reviews. LIKE.TG currently has a 4.3 Glassdoor rating.
A passion for empowering peopleThe ranking credits McDermott for leading LIKE.TG through one of the most difficult years in business history. Amid the pandemic, McDermott inspired employees to live their purpose of making the world of work, work better for people and led with frequent communications and transparency while putting the health, safety, and well-being of employees first.McDermott continues to lead by example, taking a people-first approach to everything. “Let people work the way they want to, not how software dictates they have to,” he says. “Let people easily build the experiences they dream of.”Toward that end, he’s a strong advocate of creativity. “Our team of 14,000 colleagues are exponential thinkers. This is how we continuously bring innovation to everything we do.”He adds, “We are deeply committed to attracting, retaining, and developing the absolute best talent in this industry. And we are fiercely dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and belonging—it makes us stronger.”Come join us in making the world of work, work better for people. Israel’s BDi Code ranks LIKE.TG a top company to work for
When our employees do well, we do well. This mindset is central to how we work at LIKE.TG and has been fundamental to our pandemic response. Without our 180 fantastic employees in Israel, none of the work we do would be possible. So, when BDi Code announced LIKE.TG as one of Israel’s top 100 companies to work for, it confirmed we’re doing something right for the people who make the company what it is. In the comprehensive study, we scored 36th in the field of Hi-Tech and 84th overall. The Israeli office is unique in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), enjoying what’s effectively a direct link to headquarters, thanks to in-market engineering capabilities that put it at the forefront of innovation and technology development across the entire global business. The ranking recognizes that unique status, placing us among the likes of Google, Microsoft, and Facebook. We’ve always worked hard to have our employee experience up there with the best, so it’s humbling to hear that we’re on the right track. But when it comes down to it, our achievement is due to one simple thing: our extraordinary employees.Keeping people our top priorityWith many of our employees balancing work and home life over the last year or so, it became crucial for us to enable flexibility through our work-from-anywhere arrangement. More than that, we needed to foster a sense of community, maintain the company culture, and prevent isolation. To help us get through the fallout from the pandemic, we set up regular activities to keep teams engaged, from monthly well-being packages to cooking classes and even lectures on multiple topics. This helped maintain the company momentum while offering constant support to employees. We also created team-building events around cultural holidays that were open to employees’ families. We closed out the year with a stand-up comedian and sent out surprise snack boxes for our employees to enjoy as they watched through Zoom.Although these initiatives helped keep us connected, it was really our strong work culture built by our employees that made them all possible. That made a big difference to employee morale.Enhancing the employee experienceTechnology is central to the value we provide for our clients at LIKE.TG, so it’s no surprise that it’s fundamental to enhancing the experience of our employees, too. That’s where the Now Platform® comes in.We make sure our staff personally enjoy the benefits of the Now Platform every day. For example, since January 2020, we’ve hired 60 new employees—39 of them during lockdown. Our employee onboarding app has been vital to making this process smooth and simple.
Preparing for flexible workingThis past year has undoubtedly been challenging, but we have a lot to look forward to in the coming months—particularly returning to our newly renovated and design award-winning office outside Tel Aviv.To make the transition easier (and more enjoyable) for our employees, we had Shirli Zamir Design Studio come in to expand and redesign our office during lockdown. Employees will be able to enjoy a collaborative space with a semi-open floor plan, communal dining, neighborhood working areas, and much more. There will be bumps in the road as we transition back to “normal.” No matter what happens next, we’ve made a commitment to support our employees whether they work at home or in the office. That will involve bringing people together, connecting them, and allowing them to have autonomy in their roles and flexibility to thrive.Empowering employees at LIKE.TGIt’s not just about our office—we strive to create a great place to work no matter where our people are based. If you hire talented people, empower them to thrive, and give them a purpose they can be proud of, your employees will drive your business to success. Backed by the right support, technology, and care, the sky really is the limit. We're hiring. Meet Stoffel: Building trust and a meaningful career at LIKE.TG
I’m part of the renewals team for digital go-to-market strategy. We work with partners or customers and sales to renew subscriptions to LIKE.TG solutions. We make sure we’re meeting their needs and that they’re getting all the value they can from our services. The job requires you to ramp up quickly, see the big picture, and be flexible because things change, and then they change again. You also must be able to listen—to customers and the sales teams—to understand their needs.[We’re hiring! Visit careers.]When I started with the team, we were very new and, in some cases, sales didn’t know who we were. We had to quickly build trust with the sales team so they would let us in and see that we can add value. When we can bring it all together and get the renewals closed, the partner is happy, the client is happy, we’re happy, and the sales rep sometimes says, “Thank goodness you’re here.” That’s really a great feeling.
A culture like no otherI didn’t realize how much of a difference culture can make until I got here. At my previous company, it was everyone for themselves. You do your job and, if you do it well, maybe you get a little pat on the back. Here, people are generous with their time. There are so many people I could call if I have a question, and everyone is open to hearing ideas.I really appreciate the culture of recognition, too. I think I was here for maybe three months, and I got a call from the VP, out of the blue, saying, “Hey, I heard you were working on this deal and doing a really great job, so thank you and congratulations.” That’s something that took five minutes of his time, but it made my day and month.LIKE.TG is a great place to grow professionally and personally. My job is challenging and very stimulating, but what’s really motivating is knowing you can go to many other places in the company and grow. I’ve seen it with colleagues who were moved into positions that hadn’t existed before. That’s really interesting to me.We’re all part of the journey to become the defining enterprise software company of the 21st century. It’s amazing to be part of this.To learn more, check out our careers.
Meet former LIKE.TG interns who are helping us grow
Some say you can judge a company by the quality of its early-in-career employees. If that’s true, then our future is in good hands. We recently spoke with several former interns who are making their mark at ServiceNow. These dynamic young employees talk culture, opportunities for growth, and other reasons they continue to choose to work at the company.[Explore early careers at ServiceNow.]“Everyone is treated as a key stakeholder at LIKE.TG,” says Srikar B., a product manager for Dynamic Translation and Localization Framework. “There is no strict hierarchy, and management is approachable—encouraging both employees and interns to come up with fresh ideas.”Srikar began his LIKE.TG journey in 2018 and was one of the more than 300 global summer interns that year.Today, the program includes nearly 400 interns working globally across our entire business. The interns gain access to real-work experiences, jobs, and benefits.“Ever since my first summer here, I never felt like I was just grinding or doing someone else’s work,” says Yash G. on the user experience performance team, who interned in 2019. “I always felt I was doing my own work—work that’s making a real difference.”Growing and retaining talentAttracting great, early-in-career talent is one thing. Keeping it is another. According to these former interns, the key to gaining their commitment is offering a unique culture and delivering on the promise of opportunity for growth and advancement.Software Engineer Prasanthi P. says LIKE.TG’s culture of open, two-way communication leads to a more comfortable working environment, which results in greater opportunities, performance, and results. “LIKE.TG is a place where employees can create opportunities for themselves,” she says.Social Media Manager Natalya C. agrees. A former intern, Natalya began working full time at LIKE.TG in 2014. “Growth and opportunities have been a constant,” she says. “I’ve always been encouraged to speak my mind and share ideas, which has led to more doors opening and new challenges.”See how these former interns are making a mark as full-time LIKE.TG employees:
Pride at LIKE.TG: The power of inclusion
At LIKE.TG, we’re celebrating Pride Month by amplifying the stories of our LGBTQ+ employees. One standout theme they've shared is that working for a company that values inclusion is incredibly powerful.[We’re hiring. Visit our careers page.]“I’ve never felt more at ease just being myself at a company,” says Scott O., senior executive assistant to LIKE.TG’s general counsel.Nela B., senior principal success architect, agrees. “When you’re not (able to be) your authentic selves at work, it causes a lot of personal anguish.”
The importance of a safe spaceOur Pride at Now Belonging Group, which both Scott and Nela belong to, creates a safe space for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to build community within our company. “It’s a very special place for me,” Nela shares. Each of us carries multiple identities and a multitude of experiences. That’s why, in addition to focusing on LGBTQ+ identities, it’s important for us to give space to our employees to share about their experiences as parents, immigrants, and more. It’s what embracing authenticity is all about. In this second video of our two-part Pride at Now series, you’ll hear about Scott’s younger brother coming out as gay, Nela and her partner building a family, and how both Scott and Nela cherish an inclusive work environment.
Meet Sony and Ben: Site reliability engineers with creative freedom
You might expect site reliability engineers to be solely focused on keeping products and applications up and running. That’s a big part of the job, but at LIKE.TG, 40% of a site reliability engineer’s work week is dedicated to bringing their own creativity and ideas forward. That 40% time block “could be improving monitoring, writing code, publishing a knowledge article, sharing information with the team, getting down to the root cause of issues, or helping out partner teams to provide a better service for our customers,” explains Sony L., a site reliability engineer with LIKE.TG for nearly six years.[Explore engineering careers at ServiceNow.]For example, “A large-scale client used our platform to build a support chat queue for their product on quite a large scale. It was quite special, something new and unique with our platform,” shares Ben K., a foody, aspiring runner, and site reliability engineer manager who lives right across the street from the LIKE.TG Sydney office.“The site reliability engineering team used their project time to develop monitoring, tooling, and automations to help with the operational support of this solution. Together, it showed what LIKE.TG could do while venturing into new territories,” he adds.
Embracing varietyRecently married, a budding gardener, and a doggy dad, Sony thrives in the on-the-job variety his role affords. “I like that there isn’t just one way to contribute. There’s a plethora of ways,” he notes.“And, we have the freedom to pursue ideas on how we can solve problems faster, or how we can resolve faults permanently…or even an idea that might help in operations to make us all more efficient. We are encouraged to go for it. If it turns out great, fantastic. If not, it wasn’t a waste of time. We got some knowledge and experience out of it.”Ben agrees. “The level of creative freedom of time with your 40% project time is not apparent in many other companies.”A collaborative cultureEarly in his career, Sony left LIKE.TG for a different company and quickly realized that was a mistake. “By some stroke of luck, my manager at the time reached out to me in the same week that I was having these second thoughts and invited me back,” he says. “When I came back, the culture was still the same: to be empowered to make change.”“We have a great, diverse team,” Ben adds. “The team is always there trying to help each other and build each other up. There’s a lot of cross-team and cross-org collaboration. You see the great communication and effort of work as a team within the whole company. We all just say, ‘We are ServiceNow. What we do is for the customer.’”Learning, sharing, and collaborating with others is the name of the game for both Ben and Sony. “Team culture is good because of our diverse backgrounds, technically and culturally. Not just that, when we’re in the office, it’s pretty cool because a lot of our teams are on the same floor. We can walk around, have a chat, and get a different view,” says Sony. “I like that people are always willing to help no matter what level you are.”
Exchanging ideas as one teamBen and Sony have also taken advantage of LIKE.TG’s unique exchange program within the engineering organization. Employees can be nominated by their leadership to trade places for two weeks at a time.“It’s nice meeting in person the people we’ve built relationships with over solving problems. I’ve done it every year I was able. I’ve been to the US twice and been to the UK three times,” Sony notes.Ben also had the opportunity to travel around the world, including all the way to the Hyderabad, India, office to train the site reliability engineer team there.Although walking around the office or traveling across the ocean for a real-life chat isn’t possible right now, the camaraderie prevails. “It used to be much more of a challenge working cross-organizationally and globally,” Ben explains.“But, due to COVID and everyone being remote for a while, it’s become almost second nature. Now, everyone is remote, not in the same room, so gaining these important skills becomes a bit more natural, which really helps to be able to collaborate effectively with someone who may be sitting anywhere in the world.”No matter the location, Sony and Ben agree our site reliability engineers are all one team with one dream: to reimagine products that will change the future.Learn more about engineering job opportunities at ServiceNow.
Protecting Workplace Services jobs makes the impossible a reality
The year 2020 was like no other. A pandemic, shelter-in-place orders, and working from home impacted everyone. In March, LIKE.TG closed its doors, preparing employees to work from home indefinitely. This news worried many at LIKE.TG, especially contract and Workplace Services employees. How could a lobby greeter, a chef, and an account manager work from home when their day-to-day jobs included interactions with people? What seemed impossible was made possible by LIKE.TG’s commitment to protect the jobs of its Workplace Services workers.[We’re hiring. Visit our careers page.]Prioritizing peopleIn April 2020, LIKE.TG vowed to safeguard the jobs and salaries of its full-time employees, as well as several hundred support staff and contractors who weren’t working while LIKE.TG’s offices remained closed. For Naomi N., McAlister F., and Jason Z., that protection was a wave of reassurance. “Having the job security was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders,” says Naomi.
As LIKE.TG reopens its offices in phases around the country, the company remains dedicated to the safety and well-being of all of its workers.McAlister says he can’t wait to show LIKE.TG a return on their investment in him. “We have really evolved the [culinary] program and are super excited to show everybody the changes and how we’ve grown throughout the pandemic.”Watch how LIKE.TG’s commitment impacted the lives of these three Workplace Services contractors and how they thrived because of it:
Engineering careers: Making AI accessible
More and more, working smarter and faster means building more intelligent software with a focus on AI capabilities to enhance machine learning, increase automation, and produce faster, more accurate predictions.Unlocking the benefits of artificial intelligence is a central focus for the LIKE.TG Advanced Technology Group (ATG)—a customer-centered innovation group founded in August 2020. It has nearly 250 employees located in Montreal, Quebec; Toronto, Ontario; Santa Clara, California; and Hyderabad, India.[We’re hiring. Explore LIKE.TG engineering careers.]“What attracted me is the idea of developing AI and making it accessible to companies and individuals who otherwise don’t have the setup, resources, or expertise to use it,” says Parmida A., an applied research scientist in ATG.Valérie B., ATG director of research and scientific programs, says there’s currently “a lot of thirst” for what the group can bring to the table. “It’s a matter of figuring out how to make complex things simple for people who are not from the field,” she says.ATG’s biggest attribute, Valérie says, is knowing what’s coming five years from now—and figuring out how to integrate it into products. For 2021, ATG’s objectives include:
Achieving an impactful market presence for LIKE.TG as a credible AI player
Achieving customer success for AI with the workflows
Making the Now Platform viable for market-leading AI
Achieving an impactful engagement model within LIKE.TG and delivering innovation to our customers
AI technologies tell the storyOne way ATG is making AI accessible is through BAyesian Active Learning (BaaL). It’s currently open source and available on GitHub.In AI, tons of labeled data are needed in order to train a machine learning model and enable it to make predictions. This labeling process might include hundreds of thousands of samples and is very expensive. This prevents many organizations from dipping their toes into the AI waters.BaaL queries only what it deems the most effective samples for training the model rather than labeling random selections. This makes the whole procedure more efficient, smarter and, ultimately, less expensive.Parmida says it’s a win-win for both end users and developers. “BaaL picks up patterns in the data ahead of time—flagging the end user as to which classes are in need of more data or which have more noise,” she says. “For developers, instead of digging into parameter tuning and better training, they can use BaaL to train more efficiently.”Another innovative technology from ATG is called document intelligence, or “doc intel.” Designed for markets that have traditionally required a slew of paper documents, such as insurance companies, Doc Intel uses AI optimal character recognition (OCR) to scan large volumes of documents electronically and detect the text in question, eliminating the need for manual data entry and location. This frees resources for high-value work.“Doc Intel allows us to use emerging, AI technologies to deliver the paperless office to industries that was promised 20 years ago,” says Daniel T., an AI developer in ATG engineering. “It’s very exciting to see the latest and greatest stuff in OCR and how it’s solving problems and making us more efficient.”ATG is focused on creating compelling AI experiences that power intelligent workflow solutions. These are based on six areas:
Language interaction
Case intelligence
Planning
AI workbench
Automation and discovery
Data as a service (DaaS)
The importance of collaborationThe Doc Intel team is comprised of folks from the vision team, the product management team, and the team responsible for Nagini—the initiative that allows the use of Python language-based production (LIKE.TG uses Java).“In the end, every team has to make sure they understand what every other team is doing to ensure we succeed in delivering the best AI capabilities,” Daniel says.Valérie, who leads a group of around 30 employees, says collaboration is vital so that researchers in different areas are aware of what’s going on in all related fields. “They must know what’s feasible, what direction things are going, and where the competition is,” she says.ATG is well-equipped for that. “Our research group is very well known in the field—each working on different fields within AI,” Parmida says. “We have experts in time series, computer vision, active learning, natural language processing, to name a few.”The road aheadHow does ATG stay ahead in the AI game? Keys include continuing to identify future advances and trends, retaining close contact with the academic communities, pushing boundaries, and attracting and retaining the best talent.“It’s important to note that AI is not like developing traditional software,” Valérie adds. “It comes as the result of experimentation—and we don’t necessarily know what’s going to happen when we experiment. We don’t have all the answers but have the people and resources to figure it out. That’s what makes it exciting.”Explore engineering career opportunities at ServiceNow.LIKE.TG, the LIKE.TG logo, Now, and other LIKE.TG marks are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of LIKE.TG, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries. Making a winning impact: Sales jobs at LIKE.TG
It’s an extraordinary time to work in sales at LIKE.TG, as the company continues to experience eye-popping growth. Our sales team is excited to let the world know about their collaborative culture and their satisfaction in knowing the impact LIKE.TG is making for our customers, our employees, and the communities we serve.“Our product is unmatched. Nobody out there is doing what we are doing,” says Preston H., an account executive who’s been with the company for seven years. “Back when I started, we were selling to directors, focusing in on incident management. It was very much a tactical conversation. Now, our conversations are at the CEO level, about impacting businesses in such a major way. It’s hard not to see us as a key strategic platform.”[We’re hiring. Explore LIKE.TG sales jobs.]At LIKE.TG, we make work, work better for people. Our sales employees are proud that didn’t stop during the COVID-19 pandemic. From supporting local governments to the hospitality industry to other technology companies, LIKE.TG continued to help the world work more efficiently through these challenging times. What it’s like to work in sales at LIKE.TG“We’ve done really cool things over the last year, like helping governments and companies with the COVID-19 crisis and helping people get safely back to work with our Safe Workplace apps,” shares Moira S., enterprise sales director.“We are powerful in that we can innovate and turn on a dime. It’s very satisfying to know we can have such a deep impact so quickly and really help organizations, schools, universities…different counties, and even governments get what they need in a more efficient, digital way.”
Enterprise Account Executive Tracy R. explains how LIKE.TG supported a major hotel client during the pandemic: “The hospitality industry was hit very hard,” she says. “The amount of customer calls to their global contact center was huge. We were able to work with them in both strategic and financial ways to address their specific needs during this unprecedented time."Preston echoes the sentiments about helping others during the pandemic: “I’m incredibly proud of our partnership with Zoom,” he says. “During the pandemic, Zoom grew exponentially. Our partnership enabled them to better serve their customers, so that they could have conversations with their family or make sure schooling was still taking place.”A little competition goes a long wayOur sales team is motivated by a common purpose: delivering a stellar customer experience. Members of our team share that a little competition sprinkled with the joy of winning and the power of building strong relationships makes this role rewarding.“There’s always something you can learn from other people no matter their experiences, their attitude about life, and those good things,” Moira says. “I’m a people person. I love being with people.”She also loves competition. “I was a Division 1 college athlete and national champion for the University of NC Chapel Hill field hockey team,” she explains. “I’d say that a lot of skills and mindset I learned playing sports at that level is transferrable to sales. Being resilient and having a winning attitude at all costs are things I’ve been able to bring to this job.”Like Moira, Preston is inspired by his love of sports. “I played baseball, football, lacrosse—lots of sports. I think that both the team dynamic and competitive nature of those sports contributed to why I enjoy sales today,” he says.“The thing about LIKE.TG’s value—winning as a team—we stand behind that statement. As a sales rep, your team extends beyond just your technical solutions consultant. Your team includes all of our solution sales executives, product resources, value consultants, and even our leadership. I think it’s rare for sales reps in large enterprises to have the executive exposure and internal partnerships that we do at ServiceNow. We come together to do what’s best for the customer.”
Tracy says she too is driven by her competitive spirit and love of people. “I think that when you’re in sales, you’re competitive. I like to work hard and be on a winning team. I also love the interaction, talking with customers, and helping them find solutions,” she shares. “It’s not even so much about the actual product. It’s about the relationship you’re building, the trust, and the partnership.”Learn more about sales career opportunities at ServiceNow.LIKE.TG, the LIKE.TG logo, Now, and other LIKE.TG marks are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of LIKE.TG, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries. 3 Gen Z expectations for the future of work
This is part three of a three-blog series exploring the LIKE.TG co-op program for college students. You’ve been introduced to the early-in-career LIKE.TG co-op program and heard from three students about their virtual co-op experiences. In this post, those same three Gen Zers share their thoughts on the future of work.Unlike previous cycles of co-ops who traveled to the Bay Area and experienced the office, commute, water cooler conversations, conference room meetings, snacks, friendships made on lunch breaks, and all other aspects of the traditional 9-to-5 workday, the past few cohorts of students working at LIKE.TG have had to do things a little differently.[Check out early careers at ServiceNow.]“With the co-op program, going to Santa Clara and being in the office allowed us to get to know a whole co-op cohort and travel to California and visit the surrounding areas,” recalls Helene B., analyst relations co-op at ServiceNow.Virtual or in person? When the pandemic hit, LIKE.TG quickly pivoted, redesigned its program to operate virtually, and remotely onboarded the next wave of co-ops within a matter of weeks.LIKE.TG’s virtual co-op program—complete with coffee chats, speaker series, movie nights, happy hours, mentorship and growth opportunities, and company swag (I’ll use my LIKE.TG-branded coffee mug forever)—received unanimous positive feedback. Despite that, it’s clear that a 100% virtual experience has its limitations.Although Gen Z has been referred to as the “digital native” generation and stereotyped as “having their heads in their phones,” it’s not safe to assume they’re happy and fulfilled with their entire work experience taking place online. Gen Zers have made it clear they crave social interaction, face-to-face collaboration, and in-person mentorship.Based on conversations with LIKE.TG co-ops, here are three key Gen Z expectations influencing the future of work:1. FlexibilityAlthough able to adapt to a digital work experience nearly overnight, Gen Zers want the opportunity to go to an office and interact with colleagues. Without this, they have a strong fear that being entirely remote could cause them to be overlooked or taken less seriously. And that could result in missed opportunities for career growth and advancement.“Gen Z is super fascinating because these are individuals who are digital natives, but they still greatly value face-to-face engagement with their manager and teammates,” notes Therasa C., director of global early in career talent acquisition at ServiceNow. “Gen Z is incredibly focused on results, but not necessarily on a 9-to-5 type of office experience. Their work needs to be flexible.”Helene adds, “I think our generation sees the pros and cons of [work from home]. We see a world of opportunities for flexible working. For me, I see the flexibility of travel—to continue traveling and working remotely from wherever I am.”Along with this, Gen Zers are looking for modern, forward-thinking employers who enable them with the tools and technologies needed to have a consistent work experience and be successful and productive from anywhere.
2. Self-careAmong other societal shifts confronting employers, Gen Zers are highly aware of mental health and want employers to discuss it head-on. Heightened by the pandemic and the increasingly blurred line between home and work life, stress and anxiety are growing problems.Gen Z is ushering in new attitudes and approaches to addressing well-being. The generation is putting the expectation on employers to not only make mental health a priority, but also to have leadership lead by example when it comes to work-life balance. At LIKE.TG, employees (co-ops included!) are offered online mental health resources and team-wide days off. They’re also encouraged to take personal time off and even a few hours per day to exercise or to be with family. And the entire company is offered half-day Fridays through Labor Day.Jacqueline L., user experience research co-op at LIKE.TG, has seen the added benefits of this emphasis on self-care and hopes it continues. “Now taking time off for yourself feels a lot more welcome and more voiced than it was before. So, I think carrying that over when we start going back in person would be super helpful for a lot of employees.”3. Values and purposeGen Z is the most racially and ethnically diverse generation in US history, according to Pew Research. Like millennials before them, Gen Zers keep issues such as sustainability and social justice top of mind.A focus on global impact and diversity, inclusion, and belonging are table stakes when it comes to what they’re looking for from employers. Beyond demanding companies have these types of programs in place, Gen Zers expect full transparency about the practices and progress being made.Helene says she only applied to LIKE.TG after doing a deep dive into the company’s leadership to ensure there were women at the top. The company became the top choice for Alex C., product marketing co-op at LIKE.TG, after he concluded it had a diverse and inclusive work environment with programs in place to prioritize and keep these efforts moving forward.Defining the future of workUltimately, it remains to be seen exactly what the impact of Gen Z’s growing presence and influence in the workplace will look like. All we know is it will be big and will continue to evolve.“As we think of Gen Z talent, we have to really take that step back to understand what roles can be done in which places strategically,” Therasa says. “That means some roles we're going to aim to have in a digital space. Other roles may have flexible work arrangements. But I think the key thing is, we have to understand people's motivations and make sure that their work, works for them so that they can feel enabled, inspired, and encouraged to do exceptional work for our customers.”Join us. Future innovators: Making a difference at a fast-paced company
Remember the days when summer interns weren’t much more than glorified gofers? They’d get the mail and maybe some coffee—you know, “keep ’em busy with busywork” type of thing. That’s never been the case at ServiceNow.Our intern program is about attracting—and retaining—top talent. We do that by giving them meaningful work filled with real challenges and real responsibilities, jobs that make a real impact on our environment, people, and communities.[Explore early careers at ServiceNow.]Fresh ideas welcomeTake Yash G. of our user experience performance team, for example. He started as an intern in 2019, before becoming a full-time employee earlier this year. He fondly remembers being “thrown into the deep end” during his internship. From day one, he was assigned to work on a project—JMeter Now, a wrapper for an industry-standard performance testing tool—that, just two years later, is in production and the center of his job.“LIKE.TG’s intern program pretty much crushes the competition,” he says. “Ever since the first summer here, I never felt like I was just grinding or doing someone else’s work. I always felt I was doing my own work—work that’s making a real difference. At first, it’s scary, even intimidating. But, at the same time, it’s very motivating, driving, and exciting.”
Srikar B. agrees. A product manager for the Dynamic Translation and Localization Framework, Srikar began his LIKE.TG career as an intern in 2018. “Everyone is treated as a key stakeholder at LIKE.TG,” he says. “There is no strict hierarchy, and management is approachable—encouraging both employees and interns to come up with fresh ideas.”Former intern Natalya C., social media relationships manager, has been with the company for seven years. “I don’t look at it as I chose LIKE.TG all those years ago,” she says. “I look at it as I continue to choose LIKE.TG because of the opportunities it offers to me and the excitement of being part of building the brand and watching it evolve.”Unique place with a fast paceWhat makes LIKE.TG different? For many early-in-career employees, it comes down to speed—and the expectation of performance.Adam S., a former management consultant, no longer wanted to focus on high-level strategy—mainly working on papers. He wanted to build products that help people. LIKE.TG offered the opportunity.“The biggest difference between LIKE.TG and other companies is pace,” says Adam, who now works in inbound product management. “The types of projects that would have been a three- to four-month project are done here in a two- to three-week period. We move extremely quick around here, and I love that.”
Riding the high-growth waveWhat’s it like being part of a high-growth company? It’s a whirlwind, says Abhijith M., an associate software engineer. He began a summer internship in early 2019 and was hired as a full-time employee by the end of that summer. In less than two years, his team has grown from six people to 30.“When your team is growing that fast, you get to see the work you are doing contribute a great chunk to the company’s revenue and bottom line,” he says. “You see that everything you do has a clear impact on the company’s overall growth. That really motivates you and provides a sense of accomplishment.”Former intern Mica A., a business systems analyst who’s been full time for nearly a year, says her job is anything but typical 9-to-5 work.“What I enjoy most about working for LIKE.TG is there’s never a day when I feel like I have the same mundane task,” she says. “One day I might be talking with stakeholders all day, and the next day I’m testing a feature we just built. LIKE.TG is very dynamic. It’s like a rocket ship that just continues to soar upward.”Natalya adds that LIKE.TG’s high growth over the past several years has enabled the company to hit a “sweet spot,” in which a large enterprise can still operate like a smaller, nimble company.“LIKE.TG is still a place where our collective ideas come to life and shape the company but, at the same time, we already have the processes and resources in place to do the work we’re trying to do,” she says. “Our positioning between those two stages of growth makes working here both interesting and challenging.”Learn more about early career opportunities at ServiceNow.
