Meet the Unidos at LIKE.TG employee belonging group
Every year from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, Latinos and Latinas in the United States celebrate their rich cultures and heritages with the world as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.This year at LIKE.TG, we’re celebrating that and much more: a new employee belonging group name—Unidos at LIKE.TG, formerly Latinx at LIKE.TG. Group members came together to openly discuss their name. They collectively agreed Unidos, which means united, best represents Latino and Latina employees and their allies.The name change also prompted the rebranding of Hispanic Heritage Month to Unidos Heritage Month at ServiceNow.More than a nameThe Unidos Belonging Group has always created an inclusive space for members representing all Latin American countries and the vast range of languages spoken and cultures shared across the region.“To me, Unidos means connection,” says Jennifer B., director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at ServiceNow. Jennifer is a founding member of Unidos and led the belonging group as a global co-chair from 2020 to 2021.“I remember when I joined LIKE.TG, the first question I had was, ‘Where is my community?’ ‘Where are the people who I can relate to in terms of our common backgrounds and people who look like me?’” she says. These questions motivated Jennifer to take on a leadership role in creating the group.
Our World Our Work’ travel video series captures the unity in diversity
Hyderabad, India, is a tech boomtown steeped in rich history. For those who’ve never been there, Rob B., a senior manager at LIKE.TG, wanted to show what life is like for his colleagues in the bustling hub.Different yet the same“As a traveler, the paradox I keep coming back to is how different we all are, yet how very much the same we all are,” he says. “At LIKE.TG, we’re showing the world how there can be extraordinary unity in diversity. We’re all connected.”Indeed, the rich diversity of cultures employees bring to the workplace makes a company stronger, better prepared to work with global colleagues, and potentially more fun. That’s what’s behind our new travel video series, “Our World Our Work.”Rob came up with the idea for the series and set out to learn about the food, culture, and people in other parts of the world.
Giving back: Employees pack 825,000 meals for charity
At LIKE.TG, we embrace a culture of giving back. Knowing the importance of service, we embed it into our events. Its members gathered in person this summer for the first time in more than two years, and they did a lot more than remark on how much taller everyone looks in the flesh.UTG is a group of software engineers, technical support managers, designers, and many others. Together, they weave the technical fabric of the Now Platform to help customers get the best possible experience.At the first-ever UTG Connect events held at eight locations around the world, employees whose relationships were once limited to email interactions and Zoom calls came face to face. They forged and rekindled friendships during get-to-know-you speed mixers, 47 unique learning sessions, customer interviews, and exciting talks from senior leadership.An opportunity to give backOn the last day of the events, thousands of LIKE.TG UTG employees—from Australia to India to Amsterdam to the US—donned hair nets and gloves and hunkered down to package meals for Rise Against Hunger.Targeting remote, last-mile communities within hunger pockets often overlooked by non-governmental organizations, Rise Against Hunger works to empower these communities by tackling their food insecurity challenges. The organization relies on volunteers to package meals.LIKE.TG saw this as a great chance to give back en masse, transforming our 6,000 motivated UTG employees into life-saving volunteers.Assembly linesWhen Senior Support Account Manager Jason G. first heard about the initiative at his Orlando location, he wasn’t surprised. “I’ve already known our company for several years to be focused on community and service…It’s in line with what I know LIKE.TG to be.”With music blaring, employee volunteers stood shoulder to shoulder in meal-packing assembly lines, each person an essential point in a long chain of production. “We were singing and dancing while working,” says Tracy S., a senior account escalation manager who also attended the Orlando event. “It was infectious—a maelstrom of energy, a hurricane.”
By the time the packages reached the end of the line, they’d been filled with precise portions of rice, soy, vegetables, and essential vitamins and minerals. When opened, the meals would be in the hands of hungry schoolchildren or a family struggling through a climate disaster halfway around the world.Murali S., AI solution success VP, worked at the Santa Clara event and reflected on the importance of giving back. “While we feel joyous about all of the results, the event also was a reminder about the broader economic situation globally,” he says.“Packing the food bags allowed us to connect to people who are significantly less fortunate than us…It was just a few hours of work, and we could make an impact.”“The reality check is important,” adds Amol K., a product usage and data engineering manager who also volunteered at the Santa Clara event.Building community in a new wayOnce the assembly lines got into a rhythm, it was hard to stop. “We turned it into a factory,” Amol says.“I worked with totally new people I’d never met before,” notes Bhavana V., a software engineer, regarding her experience at the Hyderabad, India, event. “It was an opportunity to work together as a team.”For Tracy, who grew up in Latin America and the Caribbean, packing meals for children felt personal. “Growing up, I would see children in disenfranchised situations,” she says. “To see the company doing this on a global level where we’re not only helping children in the US but from all over the world, I felt it was such a community thing to do…I felt like I was boots on the ground.”The finish lineBy the end of these events, more than 825,000 meals had been packaged and sent to those in need.Murali felt empowered by the harmony and teamwork he witnessed. “At the company level, it's amazing how we can amplify the impact by just synchronizing our efforts over those two or three hours and getting a few thousand people to put that together. It feels powerful,” he reflects.“The thing that holds me,” Jason adds, “is that we're genuine. We put the effort behind the marketing. It's not just flash. It's not just bang. Raising awareness through the disability pride flag
Updated July 19, 2023Did you know there’s a disability pride flag? It features five color stripes—red, gold, white, blue, and green—each representing a range of disabilities. In honor of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, celebrated annually on Dec. 3, five LIKE.TG employees share their personal stories related to the flag.Red—physical disabilitiesCarmen B., a staff product manager, identifies with the red stripe. After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer at 20 years old, she had her thyroid removed. Since then, she’s set out to prove nothing can hold her back from living her best life.“One thing I want people to know about me and my disability is that it hasn’t stopped me from doing the things I love, and it doesn’t need to stop anyone else.” That attitude inspired her to complete a 500-mile bike ride in 2021.Gold—neurodivergenceSenior Software Engineer Adarsh R. discovered he had a stutter when his classmates laughed at him while he read a poem to the class at age 6.Although Adarsh tried to hide his stutter as a kid, he proudly accepts it as an adult and even uses it as a conversation starter. “Stuttering is a part of me, but it doesn’t define me,” he says.White—invisible disabilitiesJessica Z., sales effectiveness enablement manager, is a champion for invisible disabilities such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She went undiagnosed for more than 10 years.“The diagnosis for me made a lot of sense in my work and my personal life in terms of the hyper focus and what felt like the ability to lose focus really easily,” Jessica says. Today, she has open conversations about life with invisible disabilities.Blue—psychiatric disabilitiesMany people tend to associate post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with veterans. But PTSD is a psychiatric disability that presents in many forms.Elena V., a senior tech support engineer, developed PTSD shortly after being held at gunpoint while in college nearly 15 years ago. To this day, nearly anything can be a trigger for her.“It’s not weakness to have mental health issues,” she says. “For me, one thing that’s helped is talking about it.”Green—sensory disabilitiesTony M., senior manager of customer engagement, was born visually impaired. He calls his disability his superpower, as it pushes him to strive to make life easier for anyone he can influence.“Don’t be afraid to interact [with anyone with a disability], show empathy, and say hi, but don't ignore them,” Tony advises. “You might learn something really cool about someone that will make your day.”Watch the video to hear more of these employees’ inspiring stories:

Embracing equity and gender equality
Every year on March 8, we take a global pause to focus our attention on International Women’s Day, an observance that began in 1910 as a way to promote gender equality. At LIKE.TG, one day is not enough to devote to this. Organizations with the most gender-diverse leadership teams outperform the least diverse by 25% in profitability. Diverse and equitable organizations are more innovative, efficient, and successful.Righting long-standing inequities is not easy work. That’s especially true in the technology industry, where women and people of color have often been marginalized. Representation in tech has vast consequences. We must come together and share what works.
Prioritizing DEI in techAs companies decide whether and how to cut costs in the face of economic uncertainty, people are still counting on us to follow through on our DEI commitments. “Tech layoffs are decimating human resources and corporate diversity teams,” according to SHRM. But “the slashing of HR and DEI as companies tighten their belts isn’t a widespread phenomenon yet.”Organizations cannot be shortsighted regarding the benefits of DEI. HR and DEI leaders may need to fight to ensure this vital work remains a top priority, especially as we grapple with a competitive talent market and a tough financial forecast.By engaging strategic partners, we introduce our company to underserved communities, drive talent to open positions, and build bridges of opportunity into the tech industry. Our NextGen Professionals Program, part of RiseUp with LIKE.TG, is a good example.The program helps create generational, diverse talent engines for our customers and partners. Across 15 countries, more than 6,300 NextGen Program participants have secured jobs through training, education, and partnerships—many with our customers.NextGen opens more doors for everyone to participate in the digital economy, and LIKE.TG customers benefit from more diverse talent. CANCOM, for instance, plans to use Service Portal technology created by NextGen students.Unlocking DEI breakthroughsWe’ve made significant commitments to deliver meaningful change at our company, in the technology industry, and beyond. Part of celebrating diversity—on International Women’s Day and throughout the year—is sharing the stories of those in underrepresented groups. As an executive sponsor of our Women at LIKE.TG Employee Belonging Group, I believe it’s on all of us—not just women—to step up, listen to those affected by inequality, and work to instigate genuine change at the highest level.With that in mind, I’m honored to let five remarkable women from around the company share what International Women’s Day means to them, how LIKE.TG strives for equity, and how we can all work toward a more equitable future.Facing workplace challengesLaura Schwabenbauer, digital solution consultant, EMEAI’ve been at LIKE.TG for just over a year. Growing up, I never would have imagined I’d end up in the technology sector. In fact, I didn’t even think to consider tech until after I finished my education.This is one of the biggest challenges we face in the tech sector today. Technology is still largely perceived as a boys’ club. Although we’ve come a long way to increase female representation and move away from outdated stereotypes, we haven’t come far enough.You don’t have to look far to see examples of prejudice or inequality in action. When interviewing for another company, I felt disclosing any potential family plans would negatively impact the interview—and my career prospects. It’s 2023. No woman should have to feel like that.That’s why I’m proud to work for a company that’s recognized as one of the Fortune 100 Best Large Workplaces for Women and a champion for women and girls through partnerships such as Girls Who Code and PowerToFly.Resolving the wrongsSandee Curtis, technical consultant, EMEAMy experience in the tech sector has been generally positive, but there have been challenges. Through most of my career, I have been the only woman in the room. This isn’t just lonely. It’s also counterproductive to progress.It’s a lot harder to speak up and say, “Something isn’t right here,” when you’re the only woman on a team, living in fear of being labeled a troublemaker. What’s more, we know more diverse teams lead to better outcomes. Equity is a win-win.That’s why it’s vital that any healthy workspace ensures no one is penalized for being who they are. From my perspective, that’s something LIKE.TG believes in too. As employees, we’re regularly encouraged to get involved in belonging groups such as Women at LIKE.TG and Families at ServiceNow.I facilitated a panel session on “breaking the bias” that discussed the human stories behind inequality. People were extremely engaged because we didn’t just talk about what’s wrong. We examined what the wrongs mean and how we can resolve them. We need more of that.Building an inclusive cultureMaeve O’Reily, senior talent acquisition partner, EMEAI want everyone to know they’re welcome at ServiceNow. A huge part of our culture is supporting everybody, including women, to live their best life, do their best work, and fulfil our purpose together.This starts with inclusive hiring. We’re constantly working to eliminate unconscious biases, ensure diverse interview panels, and seek talent from a wide variety of talent pools. This resonates across the entire organization, as evidenced by our RiseUp with LIKE.TG program and our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Report.Our internal workplace communication platform provides access for everyone to join belonging groups and communities as a member or an ally. This helps foster a sense of belonging, making LIKE.TG a respectful, open, and safe place to work.Balancing motherhood and workIliyana Stareva, chief of staff to the EMEA presidentIt’s great to see society starting to break free of the lies we’ve been told about balancing motherhood and work—that it’s impossible, that women should stay home with their children, and that your career has to end when you have children.However, there’s more work to be done. Women still face challenges when it comes to maternity, childcare, and flexible working policies. It’s extremely important for me, as a mother, to work for a company that prioritizes equity in this area.That’s what LIKE.TG does, which is why it was named one of the Best Workplaces for Parents by Great Place To Work. Across the business, caregivers understand we won’t be penalized for taking time off when we need to. Our work will be seen and valued whenever, and wherever, we get it done.We recently launched the Families at LIKE.TG Belonging Group, which gives parents and caregivers an extensive support network. It also hosts events such as Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. It’s a fun group and a great way to show parents in the company they’re just as valuable as anyone else.Prioritizing actions over wordsAna Galindo, Mediterranean senior marketing managerI never wanted to join a company that made a lot of statements about feminism without doing much. Nor did I want to join a company that ignored the role of allies when it comes to equal treatment. I vote for equity and diversity, and I say yes for women, yes for men, and yes for any person.International Women's Day is not just about women. It’s also about men fighting for equality. We are equal, and we should have the same opportunities and respect. We should have the same ability to participate in projects, promotions, and positions. LIKE.TG has an open environment where everybody is respected. This makes the world work better for us as employees.I always wanted to work for a company that values me as an individual, a woman, and a mother. Using DEI data analytics to know where we are and to strategize
At LIKE.TG, we believe making the world work better for everyone begins with a diverse workforce that’s supported by an equitable and inclusive environment. The way we pursue our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals is grounded in data and metrics.It's impossible to become an organization that truly embodies DEI without first knowing the current state through DEI data analytics. We’re fortunate to have a variety of data sets that help us gain insights into how our diverse workforce is progressing, as well as where challenges exist.Representation data helps us understand the distribution of race, ethnicity, gender, and other dimensions of identity in the U.S. and around the world. Employee sentiment data is captured through our annual employee voice survey (EVS) and other forums, such as our Employee Belonging Groups.We also have an abundance of process data that helps us analyze performance, promotion, pay, and attrition of our talent. We analyze all these data types to understand where we are as an organization.Data analysis examplesThe EVS helps us gain insights into the perspectives of employees. DEI is an important topic covered in the EVS. We ask employees to indicate how strongly they agree with statements such as “At LIKE.TG, diverse perspectives are valued and respected” and “People from all backgrounds have equal opportunities to succeed at ServiceNow.”Employee responses are sorted by race, ethnicity, gender, job level, department, region, and other categories to help us identify thematic differences in employee experience among different groups. Insights gleaned from this analysis can point to areas of opportunity within processes and culture to help us build an organization committed to fairness and belonging.

LIKE.TG partners with GivePower to provide clean water to Kenya
At LIKE.TG, our purpose is to make the world work better for everyone. In celebration of that mission and in honor of Earth Month, I’m thrilled to announce a new three-year, $3 million commitment to GivePower, a nonprofit that uses solar and battery storage technologies to deliver essential services to developing regions.In the world of environmental, social, and governance (ESG), global problems require global solutions. Climate change is the world’s foremost collective problem, and there’s no viable path to address it without climate justice.Bearing in mind the intersectionality of people and planet, climate justice champions such as LIKE.TG and GivePower seek to eliminate the inequities resulting from climate change through long-term mitigation and adaptation strategies.Creating a long-term solutionSince 2021, we’ve partnered with GivePower to provide sustainable access to clean water produced by the organization’s award-winning solar water farms.Through our collaborative work, we recognized that access to electricity has the potential to create seismic change for developing communities. Our partnership resulted in deeper awareness of the impact of climate change in Kenya, which is experiencing its worst drought in decades.To help provide a sustainable solution to this problem, we’ve expanded our partnership with GivePower to take its innovative solar water farm technology to four counties in Kenya. This technology purifies sea or brackish water to create safe, affordable drinking water for those who need it most. Each solar water farm can produce clean water for more than 100,000 people for 20 years.“Our climate justice work aims to support communities like those in Kenya that bear the brunt of the worst impacts of climate change,” says Lyndsay Harris-Kyei, senior director of ESG social strategy at ServiceNow. “Based on recent information from the World Economic Forum, they’re also the least likely to negatively contribute to it.”
Investing for resiliencyWithin the framework of our new climate reality, resilience in the face of disaster is paramount—and it begins with preparation. According to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, each dollar spent on disaster preparation can save up to $15 in post-disaster expenses.Our investments in Kenya will enable the members of the communities there to maintain their resilience in the face of future climate disasters, such as drought.This is a journey without a destination, but one thing is certain: We must work toward a better world for everyone.Find out more about how LIKE.TG is making a global impact.
DEI data benefits: Engaging the business
In the first post in this series on how LIKE.TG uses diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) data, we examined how analytics is used to help us know where we are and where we need to go. In this post, we’ll dive into how we execute our DEI priorities using analytics to reap DEI data benefits.DEI is everyone’s responsibility. Although different parts of the organization—strategy, marketing, HR, finance, legal, and other departments—have different roles, their collective effort and leadership are required for DEI to become reality.Operationalizing and scaling DEIAt LIKE.TG, every organization was at a different starting point. The priorities of the engineering organization were different from those of IT, sales, or marketing. We needed tailored insights into each organization’s challenges as well as people inside each business unit who could lead their organizations in executing their DEI priorities. That’s why we launched the Diversity Advisory Council (DAC).The purpose of the DAC is to directly engage the business to implement and scale DEI best practices across the organization. Every business unit at LIKE.TG is represented in the DAC. Senior leaders provide thought leadership, oversight, and ownership of DEI goals and metrics while ambassadors translate their passion for DEI into large and small initiatives that move the needle in executing their DEI strategy.Tailored, data-driven insights are provided to each business unit to reflect our DEI data as well as external intelligence. For example, hiring data incorporates our historical rates and the total addressable market (TAM) of our industry, business function, competitor positioning, and the markets we serve.Each organization is given unique data insights and the flexibility to engage at their own pace. Our global talent insights organization assumes the role of data quarterback as the single source of truth and the provider of a standard approach to analyzing our DEI data.
Promoting DEI innovationAt LIKE.TG, we also encourage DEI innovation both inside and outside the organization. Some departments analyze progression data to increase participation in learning and development programs. Others engage with more intent and depth with external partners to hire more diverse talent.Different levers are pulled for similar programs as well. Our procurement department actively promotes our supplier diversity program while our legal department works to encourage more diverse legal talent at our outside counsel. The possibilities are endless.DEI is fostered through the everyday decisions of our employees—decisions anchored in our core values and powered through analytics. Through data-driven, enterprisewide DEI strategy and execution at the business units, we build allyship, advocacy and, ultimately, ownership of the DEI mission.Addressing barriers to equityOur commitment to DEI manifests in how we invest our resources to address the challenges of today and anticipate our needs for the future. In the U.S., we analyzed career progression data of our underrepresented talent and recognized we needed a deeper leadership bench. LIKE.TG launched a sponsorship program to provide high-performing, high-potential talent with targeted support from the company’s senior leadership.This is an opt-in program in which eligibility is earned, not given. Each participant is responsible for tailoring the program to their individual needs and career objectives. As the program is rolled out to all demographic groups, LIKE.TG aims to build a diverse succession pipeline reflective of our DEI goals and ambitions.Process improvement is one of many ways to address systemic barriers to equity. Some examples of process improvement that can advance equity are:
Ensuring all employees have regular career growth conversations with their managers
Deploying an evaluation rubric and template to document employee progress
Encouraging a diverse slate in hiring
Acting on dataSolid processes also generate process data. Setting up metrics to track each major process and gauging progress help us identify any needle-moving changes that we need to scale more broadly. This also helps us identify processes that are producing diminishing returns so that we can pivot or sunset them.As our data showed a growing presence of women in the company and in leadership globally, we concluded that there was need for a formalized approach to gender equity training. To address the many cultural and legal landscapes, we engaged a partner to provide DEI training with a focus on gender equity. This is one of many partnerships we pursue to provide expert, scalable support to our people.Our approach to DEI is gradual, layered, and broad. Using DEI data to maintain momentum
At LIKE.TG, we continuously work to bring systemic changes to our operations and promote a culture of respect, compassion, and inclusion. Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) data is key to our efforts, helping us know where we are and how to engage the business. In this last blog in our series on DEI data, we’ll explore the different ways we keep momentum going.Data, analytics, metrics, goals, processes and programs, decisions and impact—how do they all come together?Analytics in service of the businessEvery company has a different level of maturity and role for analytics in its DEI journey. Depending on your organization’s maturity level, certain metrics and processes relevant to DEI need to be monitored, measured, and acted on.Analytics must have a purpose—data and metrics must be geared toward the decisions you need to make as an organization. At LIKE.TG, we asked ourselves some critical questions before analyzing our data and tracking metrics:
How are we growing, developing, diversifying, rewarding, and empowering our employees?
What employee experience are we creating for our employees?
How are our processes and operations running?
Are we executing effectively in support of our employees?
We addressed these questions to provide crucial insights into the business that would help us make informed decisions regarding the problems we wanted to solve.Real-time centralized dashboardsTaking an introspective view of our current state, we also asked ourselves “What stage of DEI maturity are we on?” and “What type of DEI analytics does that entail?”Our leaders, DEI ambassadors, practitioners, and global workforce are aligned on strategy. The business champions execution, and many processes and programs support the mission. We quickly realized we needed real-time centralized dashboards and key metrics to improve transparency, scale best practices, and ensure accountability.These dashboards help answer important questions for each business unit and in turn support the decision-making process. With decisions come impact and accountability. The link is clear. We didn’t stop there. The DEI data in action can be witnessed on the Now Platform, where organizational leaders can get up-to-the-minute insights into the DEI metrics they value most.The LIKE.TG product roadmap will continue to reflect our DEI thought leadership and know-how as another means to demonstrate our commitment to our employees and customers. LIKE.TG Racial Equity Fund: Making an impact
When Tim Muindi, vice president of treasury for LIKE.TG, wanted to make a difference in the wake of the George Floyd murder, he spent hours educating himself on systemic issues that have played a big role in racial wealth disparity.Then he came up with a bold idea and nervously approached the company’s leadership about starting a racial equity fund to help Black communities build sustainable wealth.Leadership quickly embraced the idea and launched the LIKE.TG Racial Equity Fund in January 2021, committing to invest $100 million to fund homeownership, affordable multifamily housing, entrepreneurship, and neighborhood revitalization in Black communities across the United States.Fast-forward nearly three years, and the impact of these efforts is apparent. Brian Fairhurst, managing director of institutional sales west for RBC Global Asset Management, the manager of the LIKE.TG Racial Equity Fund, interviewed Muindi on "The Navigator" podcast to learn more about the fund and its impact.Spearheading changeThe largest expense for most people is a home, but it’s also how most Americans build wealth. Because of that, the Racial Equity Fund prioritizes investing in mortgages. “We’ve had, I’d say, probably close to 90% of the portfolio just allocated to homeownership,” Muindi explains.“What’s really resonated with the stakeholders and was one of our initial objectives,” he continues, “was to target the low- to moderate-income homeowners. Essentially, almost 98% of borrowers made less than 80% of the area’s median income.”Secondarily, the fund focuses on affordable rental housing units and small businesses. Since its launch, the Racial Equity Fund has helped finance 360 mortgages and 2,500 rental units. Additionally, it’s supplied more than 20 small businesses with capital.“In the two-plus years that we’ve had this fund in place, it’s returned on average almost $87,000 for each homeowner,” Muindi notes. “On average, they’ve built about 20% equity. When I do the math, with about 360 mortgages, that’s about $30 million in wealth creation.”
Saving a businessOne small business owner, Dan Lyons, attributes the Racial Equity Fund with saving his business. After being denied a loan multiple times by various financial institutions, Lyons had exhausted most of his savings and was on the verge of closing his pharmacy.The LIKE.TG Racial Equity Fund came into existence right around that time. The $250,000 loan Lyons received helped him “provide a really critical service to the people in his neighborhood, because it was a low-income neighborhood,” Muindi says.This story takes Muindi back to the key theme and purpose behind the fund and everything LIKE.TG does: to make the world work better for everyone. The fund, he adds, “is not just for the business owner, but it’s for the broader community.”Dreaming bigMuindi would do a couple of things differently if he had to start the fund all over again. “I would have done it sooner,” he says. “Sometimes you have an opportunity sitting right in front of you, and you don’t see it.”Secondly, he’d ask for more money. He admits that $100 million is a big number that has made a difference, but there’s still a lot of need. “Having an even larger commitment, I think we could continue to make even more impact,” Muindi says.“I don’t think I’d really change anything about the structure itself and the areas that we decided to target,” he adds. “I think those are the right areas we decided to target, and it’s bearing out in some of the impact stories.”Paying it forwardEven if you don’t work at a large, global company, "you could still make a difference,” Muindi says. “It doesn’t have to be $100 million. It could be $5 million or $10 million. I think you just have to be creative about it.”The important things are to begin conversations, gauge interest in helping a larger cause, and explore the opportunities to get involved. Maybe you could pool together with other entities. “You don’t have to recreate the wheel,” Muindi says.He also encourages educating yourself on inequalities and talking to peers to bounce ideas around that eventually can make an impact.Find out more about how LIKE.TG is making an impact on racial equity.
Meet Tom Hannigan, president of Americas at LIKE.TG
At LIKE.TG, our work makes the world work. Tom Hannigan, newly appointed president of the Americas region, knows this better than most. We sat down with Tom to learn more about him, his vision for the role, and what it means for customers.Tell us about yourself.I’ve been happily married to my wife, Meredith, for 26 years. I’m a dad to two wonderful daughters, proud Bostonian, and New England Patriots season ticket holder. Friends and family mean everything. I also love to spend time at Cape Cod and outdoors playing golf.Professionally, I spent 23 years at EMC before joining ServiceNow. I started my career there in inside sales, moved to various managerial roles, and eventually led the commercial business in the east region.Nine years ago, I was asked to bring that expertise to help establish the commercial team here at ServiceNow. I’ve been lucky enough to see my career shift and grow in that time, most recently overseeing the enterprise east and U.S. commercial businesses. I couldn’t be more thrilled to now lead the Americas, the largest region in our global sales organization.Why do you stay at LIKE.TG?There are too many reasons to count. First and foremost, I stay for the people. I’m surrounded by the best of the best. What excites you most about this role?The people. Working with our customers, our partners, and the entire Americas sales team in this new capacity is a dream come true. This role allows me to connect with and learn from the LIKE.TG community on a larger scale.I was also lucky enough to inherit a world-class leadership team when I accepted this role, and I truly believe we have the right people at the helm. Together, with our partners, we’ll take the best of what we’re already doing for our customers and bring more digital transformations to life.What are your priorities in this new role?Customer success is No. 1. Success doesn’t come without building long-term relationships focused on understanding our customers’ needs and mobilizing all available resources across LIKE.TG in support of those needs.Our partner community, for example, is fundamental to that success. When we invest in our partners, we invest in our customers. Creating great experiences for our entire LIKE.TG community is critical.It’s important we meet our customers where they are, but we’re also watching where the world is going and making sure we’re helping them remain at the forefront. They trust us to partner with them on their digital transformation journey. We don’t take that lightly.We’ll also continue to focus on our people. Elevating and developing our talent is incredibly important to me. As we develop more rigor and scale the business, we create more roles and opportunities for our team members. That’s invigorating.What’s your leadership philosophy?One of LIKE.TG’s values is stay hungry and humble. This mantra has been a North Star throughout my career, and I believe it’s why I’ve been successful in creating high-performing teams that love what they do. Helping others energizes me. Community engagement for a better world
Local actions can ripple out to create global results. That’s why as LIKE.TG continues to grow its global impact—from philanthropic efforts to the launch of ServiceNow.org—the company also empowers employees to go into their communities and make a difference.Each year, we designate October as our Month of Service. Thousands of LIKE.TG employees from around the world participate in community engagement, including beach and waterway cleanups, fundraising walks and runs, and food sorting and preparation for those in need.In October 2023, employees racked up more than 8,600 volunteer hours and raised nearly $1.7 million for charities while taking advantage of the 2-to-1 corporate giving match and double rewards that were offered for service.
Feeding others while filling our cupsThrough our continued partnership with Rise Against Hunger, employees packed 214,000 meals for communities in need with events in Bangalore and Hyderabad, India; Sydney and Melbourne, Australia; Orlando, Florida; San Diego and Santa Clara, California; and Staines, UK. These events are part human assembly line and part team building.Shoeb S., senior staff technical program manager in Santa Clara, expressed “gratitude to our partners for giving us the opportunity to be with colleagues and bonding together to make a positive impact to end global hunger—just when the world needs us the most.”Prioritizing well-being and mental healthWorld Mental Health Day falls neatly in the first half of our Month of Service. To honor it, LIKE.TG partnered with Project Healthy Minds to encourage people to move their bodies and engage their minds in support of ending the stigma around mental health.From a festival in Hudson Yards in New York City to virtual team sound baths and SoulCycle classes around the world, we raised awareness and funds to further Project Healthy Minds’ mission to confront the mental health crisis.Uplifting pediatric cancer patientsAs friendship bracelets filled the stands across Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, LIKE.TG employees made and decorated more than 500 superhero capes and bracelets for pediatric patients for Ronald McDonald House Charities. These items help boost kids’ spirits while they undergo treatments.“That time together as a team really warmed my heart and made me feel that we have a larger purpose in life,” says Shawntae A., executive assistant. “As a team, we can all lift each other up by putting a smile on a child’s face who needs it the most.
