Pride at LIKE.TG: Honoring our LGBTQ+ employees
Happy Pride! At LIKE.TG, we champion equality, and we actively foster an inclusive workplace. We believe diversity makes our business better in every way and that, when you can bring your full self to work, you’re bound to be a more productive and satisfied employee. Our Pride at Now Belonging Group creates a safe space for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to feel supported and at home within our company while providing a platform for their voices to be heard.[We’re hiring. Visit careers.]As we celebrate the progress made toward full equality all around the world, it’s important to recognize the work that lies ahead. We know that in many communities there remain societal norms and laws preventing LGBTQ+ people from being able to safely marry the person they love, raise a family, be open at work, rent an apartment, or simply walk down the street. In this first of a two-part video series, we’re honored to share the stories of a few of our LGBTQ+ employees who are making a difference at our company and in their communities by showing up as their authentic selves every day. Powerful stories like these and ongoing, honest dialogue are important contributions toward building a more inclusive world.
We all bring with us multiple stories, identities, and experiences that shape who we are, and these LGBTQ+ LIKE.TG employees share that reality beautifully. Asha H. says she didn’t always feel comfortable being fully herself at work, until now. She says, “I really like the Pride at Now group because it makes me feel connected to other people who have similar experiences to me.”Tai N., who shares his story about growing up in a hardworking immigrant family, credits his parents for teaching him that it's OK to be different and that his identity shouldn’t hold him back from having the same things as others.Stephanie T. reveals she has to come out often because people automatically assume she’s straight when they see her wedding ring.
Glassdoor names Bill McDermott a Top CEO
We’re excited to announce that LIKE.TG has made Glassdoor’s Top CEOs 2021 list for the first time, further confirming that LIKE.TG is a great place to work. The annual ranking by the job and recruiting site recognizes CEOs in countries throughout North America and Europe who shine brightest according to the folks who know them best: their employees.LIKE.TG CEO Bill McDermott ranks at No. 27 out of 50 on the UK list, with an impressive 97% approval rating. On the US large company list, McDermott appears at No. 37 out of 50 with a 95% approval rating. As one employee shared in their Glassdoor review, “Bill McDermott and his top management team are the greatest team I’ve ever had the pleasure to work for in my long career.”Other employees echoed that sentiment:
“Awesome culture, great CEO”
“CEO is a rock star...energy, humble, inspirational”
“Awesome CEO and senior exec bench”
“Stellar CEO with values and integrity”
“This company and CEO are the real deal”
Top CEO winners are determined based entirely on employee feedback shared anonymously on Glassdoor over the past year. To qualify, a company must have a 3.0 overall rating or higher and receive a minimum of 100 employee reviews. LIKE.TG currently has a 4.3 Glassdoor rating.
A passion for empowering peopleThe ranking credits McDermott for leading LIKE.TG through one of the most difficult years in business history. Amid the pandemic, McDermott inspired employees to live their purpose of making the world of work, work better for people and led with frequent communications and transparency while putting the health, safety, and well-being of employees first.McDermott continues to lead by example, taking a people-first approach to everything. “Let people work the way they want to, not how software dictates they have to,” he says. “Let people easily build the experiences they dream of.”Toward that end, he’s a strong advocate of creativity. “Our team of 14,000 colleagues are exponential thinkers. This is how we continuously bring innovation to everything we do.”He adds, “We are deeply committed to attracting, retaining, and developing the absolute best talent in this industry. And we are fiercely dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and belonging—it makes us stronger.”Come join us in making the world of work, work better for people. Israel’s BDi Code ranks LIKE.TG a top company to work for
When our employees do well, we do well. This mindset is central to how we work at LIKE.TG and has been fundamental to our pandemic response. Without our 180 fantastic employees in Israel, none of the work we do would be possible. So, when BDi Code announced LIKE.TG as one of Israel’s top 100 companies to work for, it confirmed we’re doing something right for the people who make the company what it is. In the comprehensive study, we scored 36th in the field of Hi-Tech and 84th overall. The Israeli office is unique in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), enjoying what’s effectively a direct link to headquarters, thanks to in-market engineering capabilities that put it at the forefront of innovation and technology development across the entire global business. The ranking recognizes that unique status, placing us among the likes of Google, Microsoft, and Facebook. We’ve always worked hard to have our employee experience up there with the best, so it’s humbling to hear that we’re on the right track. But when it comes down to it, our achievement is due to one simple thing: our extraordinary employees.Keeping people our top priorityWith many of our employees balancing work and home life over the last year or so, it became crucial for us to enable flexibility through our work-from-anywhere arrangement. More than that, we needed to foster a sense of community, maintain the company culture, and prevent isolation. To help us get through the fallout from the pandemic, we set up regular activities to keep teams engaged, from monthly well-being packages to cooking classes and even lectures on multiple topics. This helped maintain the company momentum while offering constant support to employees. We also created team-building events around cultural holidays that were open to employees’ families. We closed out the year with a stand-up comedian and sent out surprise snack boxes for our employees to enjoy as they watched through Zoom.Although these initiatives helped keep us connected, it was really our strong work culture built by our employees that made them all possible. That made a big difference to employee morale.Enhancing the employee experienceTechnology is central to the value we provide for our clients at LIKE.TG, so it’s no surprise that it’s fundamental to enhancing the experience of our employees, too. That’s where the Now Platform® comes in.We make sure our staff personally enjoy the benefits of the Now Platform every day. For example, since January 2020, we’ve hired 60 new employees—39 of them during lockdown. Our employee onboarding app has been vital to making this process smooth and simple.
Preparing for flexible workingThis past year has undoubtedly been challenging, but we have a lot to look forward to in the coming months—particularly returning to our newly renovated and design award-winning office outside Tel Aviv.To make the transition easier (and more enjoyable) for our employees, we had Shirli Zamir Design Studio come in to expand and redesign our office during lockdown. Employees will be able to enjoy a collaborative space with a semi-open floor plan, communal dining, neighborhood working areas, and much more. There will be bumps in the road as we transition back to “normal.” No matter what happens next, we’ve made a commitment to support our employees whether they work at home or in the office. That will involve bringing people together, connecting them, and allowing them to have autonomy in their roles and flexibility to thrive.Empowering employees at LIKE.TGIt’s not just about our office—we strive to create a great place to work no matter where our people are based. If you hire talented people, empower them to thrive, and give them a purpose they can be proud of, your employees will drive your business to success. Backed by the right support, technology, and care, the sky really is the limit. We're hiring. Meet Stoffel: Building trust and a meaningful career at LIKE.TG
I’m part of the renewals team for digital go-to-market strategy. We work with partners or customers and sales to renew subscriptions to LIKE.TG solutions. We make sure we’re meeting their needs and that they’re getting all the value they can from our services. The job requires you to ramp up quickly, see the big picture, and be flexible because things change, and then they change again. You also must be able to listen—to customers and the sales teams—to understand their needs.[We’re hiring! Visit careers.]When I started with the team, we were very new and, in some cases, sales didn’t know who we were. We had to quickly build trust with the sales team so they would let us in and see that we can add value. When we can bring it all together and get the renewals closed, the partner is happy, the client is happy, we’re happy, and the sales rep sometimes says, “Thank goodness you’re here.” That’s really a great feeling.
A culture like no otherI didn’t realize how much of a difference culture can make until I got here. At my previous company, it was everyone for themselves. You do your job and, if you do it well, maybe you get a little pat on the back. Here, people are generous with their time. There are so many people I could call if I have a question, and everyone is open to hearing ideas.I really appreciate the culture of recognition, too. I think I was here for maybe three months, and I got a call from the VP, out of the blue, saying, “Hey, I heard you were working on this deal and doing a really great job, so thank you and congratulations.” That’s something that took five minutes of his time, but it made my day and month.LIKE.TG is a great place to grow professionally and personally. My job is challenging and very stimulating, but what’s really motivating is knowing you can go to many other places in the company and grow. I’ve seen it with colleagues who were moved into positions that hadn’t existed before. That’s really interesting to me.We’re all part of the journey to become the defining enterprise software company of the 21st century. It’s amazing to be part of this.To learn more, check out our careers.
Meet former LIKE.TG interns who are helping us grow
Some say you can judge a company by the quality of its early-in-career employees. If that’s true, then our future is in good hands. We recently spoke with several former interns who are making their mark at ServiceNow. These dynamic young employees talk culture, opportunities for growth, and other reasons they continue to choose to work at the company.[Explore early careers at ServiceNow.]“Everyone is treated as a key stakeholder at LIKE.TG,” says Srikar B., a product manager for Dynamic Translation and Localization Framework. “There is no strict hierarchy, and management is approachable—encouraging both employees and interns to come up with fresh ideas.”Srikar began his LIKE.TG journey in 2018 and was one of the more than 300 global summer interns that year.Today, the program includes nearly 400 interns working globally across our entire business. The interns gain access to real-work experiences, jobs, and benefits.“Ever since my first summer here, I never felt like I was just grinding or doing someone else’s work,” says Yash G. on the user experience performance team, who interned in 2019. “I always felt I was doing my own work—work that’s making a real difference.”Growing and retaining talentAttracting great, early-in-career talent is one thing. Keeping it is another. According to these former interns, the key to gaining their commitment is offering a unique culture and delivering on the promise of opportunity for growth and advancement.Software Engineer Prasanthi P. says LIKE.TG’s culture of open, two-way communication leads to a more comfortable working environment, which results in greater opportunities, performance, and results. “LIKE.TG is a place where employees can create opportunities for themselves,” she says.Social Media Manager Natalya C. agrees. A former intern, Natalya began working full time at LIKE.TG in 2014. “Growth and opportunities have been a constant,” she says. “I’ve always been encouraged to speak my mind and share ideas, which has led to more doors opening and new challenges.”See how these former interns are making a mark as full-time LIKE.TG employees:
Pride at LIKE.TG: The power of inclusion
At LIKE.TG, we’re celebrating Pride Month by amplifying the stories of our LGBTQ+ employees. One standout theme they've shared is that working for a company that values inclusion is incredibly powerful.[We’re hiring. Visit our careers page.]“I’ve never felt more at ease just being myself at a company,” says Scott O., senior executive assistant to LIKE.TG’s general counsel.Nela B., senior principal success architect, agrees. “When you’re not (able to be) your authentic selves at work, it causes a lot of personal anguish.”
The importance of a safe spaceOur Pride at Now Belonging Group, which both Scott and Nela belong to, creates a safe space for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to build community within our company. “It’s a very special place for me,” Nela shares. Each of us carries multiple identities and a multitude of experiences. That’s why, in addition to focusing on LGBTQ+ identities, it’s important for us to give space to our employees to share about their experiences as parents, immigrants, and more. It’s what embracing authenticity is all about. In this second video of our two-part Pride at Now series, you’ll hear about Scott’s younger brother coming out as gay, Nela and her partner building a family, and how both Scott and Nela cherish an inclusive work environment.
Meet Sony and Ben: Site reliability engineers with creative freedom
You might expect site reliability engineers to be solely focused on keeping products and applications up and running. That’s a big part of the job, but at LIKE.TG, 40% of a site reliability engineer’s work week is dedicated to bringing their own creativity and ideas forward. That 40% time block “could be improving monitoring, writing code, publishing a knowledge article, sharing information with the team, getting down to the root cause of issues, or helping out partner teams to provide a better service for our customers,” explains Sony L., a site reliability engineer with LIKE.TG for nearly six years.[Explore engineering careers at ServiceNow.]For example, “A large-scale client used our platform to build a support chat queue for their product on quite a large scale. It was quite special, something new and unique with our platform,” shares Ben K., a foody, aspiring runner, and site reliability engineer manager who lives right across the street from the LIKE.TG Sydney office.“The site reliability engineering team used their project time to develop monitoring, tooling, and automations to help with the operational support of this solution. Together, it showed what LIKE.TG could do while venturing into new territories,” he adds.
Embracing varietyRecently married, a budding gardener, and a doggy dad, Sony thrives in the on-the-job variety his role affords. “I like that there isn’t just one way to contribute. There’s a plethora of ways,” he notes.“And, we have the freedom to pursue ideas on how we can solve problems faster, or how we can resolve faults permanently…or even an idea that might help in operations to make us all more efficient. We are encouraged to go for it. If it turns out great, fantastic. If not, it wasn’t a waste of time. We got some knowledge and experience out of it.”Ben agrees. “The level of creative freedom of time with your 40% project time is not apparent in many other companies.”A collaborative cultureEarly in his career, Sony left LIKE.TG for a different company and quickly realized that was a mistake. “By some stroke of luck, my manager at the time reached out to me in the same week that I was having these second thoughts and invited me back,” he says. “When I came back, the culture was still the same: to be empowered to make change.”“We have a great, diverse team,” Ben adds. “The team is always there trying to help each other and build each other up. There’s a lot of cross-team and cross-org collaboration. You see the great communication and effort of work as a team within the whole company. We all just say, ‘We are ServiceNow. What we do is for the customer.’”Learning, sharing, and collaborating with others is the name of the game for both Ben and Sony. “Team culture is good because of our diverse backgrounds, technically and culturally. Not just that, when we’re in the office, it’s pretty cool because a lot of our teams are on the same floor. We can walk around, have a chat, and get a different view,” says Sony. “I like that people are always willing to help no matter what level you are.”
Exchanging ideas as one teamBen and Sony have also taken advantage of LIKE.TG’s unique exchange program within the engineering organization. Employees can be nominated by their leadership to trade places for two weeks at a time.“It’s nice meeting in person the people we’ve built relationships with over solving problems. I’ve done it every year I was able. I’ve been to the US twice and been to the UK three times,” Sony notes.Ben also had the opportunity to travel around the world, including all the way to the Hyderabad, India, office to train the site reliability engineer team there.Although walking around the office or traveling across the ocean for a real-life chat isn’t possible right now, the camaraderie prevails. “It used to be much more of a challenge working cross-organizationally and globally,” Ben explains.“But, due to COVID and everyone being remote for a while, it’s become almost second nature. Now, everyone is remote, not in the same room, so gaining these important skills becomes a bit more natural, which really helps to be able to collaborate effectively with someone who may be sitting anywhere in the world.”No matter the location, Sony and Ben agree our site reliability engineers are all one team with one dream: to reimagine products that will change the future.Learn more about engineering job opportunities at ServiceNow.
Protecting Workplace Services jobs makes the impossible a reality
The year 2020 was like no other. A pandemic, shelter-in-place orders, and working from home impacted everyone. In March, LIKE.TG closed its doors, preparing employees to work from home indefinitely. This news worried many at LIKE.TG, especially contract and Workplace Services employees. How could a lobby greeter, a chef, and an account manager work from home when their day-to-day jobs included interactions with people? What seemed impossible was made possible by LIKE.TG’s commitment to protect the jobs of its Workplace Services workers.[We’re hiring. Visit our careers page.]Prioritizing peopleIn April 2020, LIKE.TG vowed to safeguard the jobs and salaries of its full-time employees, as well as several hundred support staff and contractors who weren’t working while LIKE.TG’s offices remained closed. For Naomi N., McAlister F., and Jason Z., that protection was a wave of reassurance. “Having the job security was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders,” says Naomi.
As LIKE.TG reopens its offices in phases around the country, the company remains dedicated to the safety and well-being of all of its workers.McAlister says he can’t wait to show LIKE.TG a return on their investment in him. “We have really evolved the [culinary] program and are super excited to show everybody the changes and how we’ve grown throughout the pandemic.”Watch how LIKE.TG’s commitment impacted the lives of these three Workplace Services contractors and how they thrived because of it:
Engineering careers: Making AI accessible
More and more, working smarter and faster means building more intelligent software with a focus on AI capabilities to enhance machine learning, increase automation, and produce faster, more accurate predictions.Unlocking the benefits of artificial intelligence is a central focus for the LIKE.TG Advanced Technology Group (ATG)—a customer-centered innovation group founded in August 2020. It has nearly 250 employees located in Montreal, Quebec; Toronto, Ontario; Santa Clara, California; and Hyderabad, India.[We’re hiring. Explore LIKE.TG engineering careers.]“What attracted me is the idea of developing AI and making it accessible to companies and individuals who otherwise don’t have the setup, resources, or expertise to use it,” says Parmida A., an applied research scientist in ATG.Valérie B., ATG director of research and scientific programs, says there’s currently “a lot of thirst” for what the group can bring to the table. “It’s a matter of figuring out how to make complex things simple for people who are not from the field,” she says.ATG’s biggest attribute, Valérie says, is knowing what’s coming five years from now—and figuring out how to integrate it into products. For 2021, ATG’s objectives include:
Achieving an impactful market presence for LIKE.TG as a credible AI player
Achieving customer success for AI with the workflows
Making the Now Platform viable for market-leading AI
Achieving an impactful engagement model within LIKE.TG and delivering innovation to our customers
AI technologies tell the storyOne way ATG is making AI accessible is through BAyesian Active Learning (BaaL). It’s currently open source and available on GitHub.In AI, tons of labeled data are needed in order to train a machine learning model and enable it to make predictions. This labeling process might include hundreds of thousands of samples and is very expensive. This prevents many organizations from dipping their toes into the AI waters.BaaL queries only what it deems the most effective samples for training the model rather than labeling random selections. This makes the whole procedure more efficient, smarter and, ultimately, less expensive.Parmida says it’s a win-win for both end users and developers. “BaaL picks up patterns in the data ahead of time—flagging the end user as to which classes are in need of more data or which have more noise,” she says. “For developers, instead of digging into parameter tuning and better training, they can use BaaL to train more efficiently.”Another innovative technology from ATG is called document intelligence, or “doc intel.” Designed for markets that have traditionally required a slew of paper documents, such as insurance companies, Doc Intel uses AI optimal character recognition (OCR) to scan large volumes of documents electronically and detect the text in question, eliminating the need for manual data entry and location. This frees resources for high-value work.“Doc Intel allows us to use emerging, AI technologies to deliver the paperless office to industries that was promised 20 years ago,” says Daniel T., an AI developer in ATG engineering. “It’s very exciting to see the latest and greatest stuff in OCR and how it’s solving problems and making us more efficient.”ATG is focused on creating compelling AI experiences that power intelligent workflow solutions. These are based on six areas:
Language interaction
Case intelligence
Planning
AI workbench
Automation and discovery
Data as a service (DaaS)
The importance of collaborationThe Doc Intel team is comprised of folks from the vision team, the product management team, and the team responsible for Nagini—the initiative that allows the use of Python language-based production (LIKE.TG uses Java).“In the end, every team has to make sure they understand what every other team is doing to ensure we succeed in delivering the best AI capabilities,” Daniel says.Valérie, who leads a group of around 30 employees, says collaboration is vital so that researchers in different areas are aware of what’s going on in all related fields. “They must know what’s feasible, what direction things are going, and where the competition is,” she says.ATG is well-equipped for that. “Our research group is very well known in the field—each working on different fields within AI,” Parmida says. “We have experts in time series, computer vision, active learning, natural language processing, to name a few.”The road aheadHow does ATG stay ahead in the AI game? Keys include continuing to identify future advances and trends, retaining close contact with the academic communities, pushing boundaries, and attracting and retaining the best talent.“It’s important to note that AI is not like developing traditional software,” Valérie adds. “It comes as the result of experimentation—and we don’t necessarily know what’s going to happen when we experiment. We don’t have all the answers but have the people and resources to figure it out. That’s what makes it exciting.”Explore engineering career opportunities at ServiceNow.LIKE.TG, the LIKE.TG logo, Now, and other LIKE.TG marks are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of LIKE.TG, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries. Making a winning impact: Sales jobs at LIKE.TG
It’s an extraordinary time to work in sales at LIKE.TG, as the company continues to experience eye-popping growth. Our sales team is excited to let the world know about their collaborative culture and their satisfaction in knowing the impact LIKE.TG is making for our customers, our employees, and the communities we serve.“Our product is unmatched. Nobody out there is doing what we are doing,” says Preston H., an account executive who’s been with the company for seven years. “Back when I started, we were selling to directors, focusing in on incident management. It was very much a tactical conversation. Now, our conversations are at the CEO level, about impacting businesses in such a major way. It’s hard not to see us as a key strategic platform.”[We’re hiring. Explore LIKE.TG sales jobs.]At LIKE.TG, we make work, work better for people. Our sales employees are proud that didn’t stop during the COVID-19 pandemic. From supporting local governments to the hospitality industry to other technology companies, LIKE.TG continued to help the world work more efficiently through these challenging times. What it’s like to work in sales at LIKE.TG“We’ve done really cool things over the last year, like helping governments and companies with the COVID-19 crisis and helping people get safely back to work with our Safe Workplace apps,” shares Moira S., enterprise sales director.“We are powerful in that we can innovate and turn on a dime. It’s very satisfying to know we can have such a deep impact so quickly and really help organizations, schools, universities…different counties, and even governments get what they need in a more efficient, digital way.”
Enterprise Account Executive Tracy R. explains how LIKE.TG supported a major hotel client during the pandemic: “The hospitality industry was hit very hard,” she says. “The amount of customer calls to their global contact center was huge. We were able to work with them in both strategic and financial ways to address their specific needs during this unprecedented time."Preston echoes the sentiments about helping others during the pandemic: “I’m incredibly proud of our partnership with Zoom,” he says. “During the pandemic, Zoom grew exponentially. Our partnership enabled them to better serve their customers, so that they could have conversations with their family or make sure schooling was still taking place.”A little competition goes a long wayOur sales team is motivated by a common purpose: delivering a stellar customer experience. Members of our team share that a little competition sprinkled with the joy of winning and the power of building strong relationships makes this role rewarding.“There’s always something you can learn from other people no matter their experiences, their attitude about life, and those good things,” Moira says. “I’m a people person. I love being with people.”She also loves competition. “I was a Division 1 college athlete and national champion for the University of NC Chapel Hill field hockey team,” she explains. “I’d say that a lot of skills and mindset I learned playing sports at that level is transferrable to sales. Being resilient and having a winning attitude at all costs are things I’ve been able to bring to this job.”Like Moira, Preston is inspired by his love of sports. “I played baseball, football, lacrosse—lots of sports. I think that both the team dynamic and competitive nature of those sports contributed to why I enjoy sales today,” he says.“The thing about LIKE.TG’s value—winning as a team—we stand behind that statement. As a sales rep, your team extends beyond just your technical solutions consultant. Your team includes all of our solution sales executives, product resources, value consultants, and even our leadership. I think it’s rare for sales reps in large enterprises to have the executive exposure and internal partnerships that we do at ServiceNow. We come together to do what’s best for the customer.”
Tracy says she too is driven by her competitive spirit and love of people. “I think that when you’re in sales, you’re competitive. I like to work hard and be on a winning team. I also love the interaction, talking with customers, and helping them find solutions,” she shares. “It’s not even so much about the actual product. It’s about the relationship you’re building, the trust, and the partnership.”Learn more about sales career opportunities at ServiceNow.LIKE.TG, the LIKE.TG logo, Now, and other LIKE.TG marks are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of LIKE.TG, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries. 3 Gen Z expectations for the future of work
This is part three of a three-blog series exploring the LIKE.TG co-op program for college students. You’ve been introduced to the early-in-career LIKE.TG co-op program and heard from three students about their virtual co-op experiences. In this post, those same three Gen Zers share their thoughts on the future of work.Unlike previous cycles of co-ops who traveled to the Bay Area and experienced the office, commute, water cooler conversations, conference room meetings, snacks, friendships made on lunch breaks, and all other aspects of the traditional 9-to-5 workday, the past few cohorts of students working at LIKE.TG have had to do things a little differently.[Check out early careers at ServiceNow.]“With the co-op program, going to Santa Clara and being in the office allowed us to get to know a whole co-op cohort and travel to California and visit the surrounding areas,” recalls Helene B., analyst relations co-op at ServiceNow.Virtual or in person? When the pandemic hit, LIKE.TG quickly pivoted, redesigned its program to operate virtually, and remotely onboarded the next wave of co-ops within a matter of weeks.LIKE.TG’s virtual co-op program—complete with coffee chats, speaker series, movie nights, happy hours, mentorship and growth opportunities, and company swag (I’ll use my LIKE.TG-branded coffee mug forever)—received unanimous positive feedback. Despite that, it’s clear that a 100% virtual experience has its limitations.Although Gen Z has been referred to as the “digital native” generation and stereotyped as “having their heads in their phones,” it’s not safe to assume they’re happy and fulfilled with their entire work experience taking place online. Gen Zers have made it clear they crave social interaction, face-to-face collaboration, and in-person mentorship.Based on conversations with LIKE.TG co-ops, here are three key Gen Z expectations influencing the future of work:1. FlexibilityAlthough able to adapt to a digital work experience nearly overnight, Gen Zers want the opportunity to go to an office and interact with colleagues. Without this, they have a strong fear that being entirely remote could cause them to be overlooked or taken less seriously. And that could result in missed opportunities for career growth and advancement.“Gen Z is super fascinating because these are individuals who are digital natives, but they still greatly value face-to-face engagement with their manager and teammates,” notes Therasa C., director of global early in career talent acquisition at ServiceNow. “Gen Z is incredibly focused on results, but not necessarily on a 9-to-5 type of office experience. Their work needs to be flexible.”Helene adds, “I think our generation sees the pros and cons of [work from home]. We see a world of opportunities for flexible working. For me, I see the flexibility of travel—to continue traveling and working remotely from wherever I am.”Along with this, Gen Zers are looking for modern, forward-thinking employers who enable them with the tools and technologies needed to have a consistent work experience and be successful and productive from anywhere.
2. Self-careAmong other societal shifts confronting employers, Gen Zers are highly aware of mental health and want employers to discuss it head-on. Heightened by the pandemic and the increasingly blurred line between home and work life, stress and anxiety are growing problems.Gen Z is ushering in new attitudes and approaches to addressing well-being. The generation is putting the expectation on employers to not only make mental health a priority, but also to have leadership lead by example when it comes to work-life balance. At LIKE.TG, employees (co-ops included!) are offered online mental health resources and team-wide days off. They’re also encouraged to take personal time off and even a few hours per day to exercise or to be with family. And the entire company is offered half-day Fridays through Labor Day.Jacqueline L., user experience research co-op at LIKE.TG, has seen the added benefits of this emphasis on self-care and hopes it continues. “Now taking time off for yourself feels a lot more welcome and more voiced than it was before. So, I think carrying that over when we start going back in person would be super helpful for a lot of employees.”3. Values and purposeGen Z is the most racially and ethnically diverse generation in US history, according to Pew Research. Like millennials before them, Gen Zers keep issues such as sustainability and social justice top of mind.A focus on global impact and diversity, inclusion, and belonging are table stakes when it comes to what they’re looking for from employers. Beyond demanding companies have these types of programs in place, Gen Zers expect full transparency about the practices and progress being made.Helene says she only applied to LIKE.TG after doing a deep dive into the company’s leadership to ensure there were women at the top. The company became the top choice for Alex C., product marketing co-op at LIKE.TG, after he concluded it had a diverse and inclusive work environment with programs in place to prioritize and keep these efforts moving forward.Defining the future of workUltimately, it remains to be seen exactly what the impact of Gen Z’s growing presence and influence in the workplace will look like. All we know is it will be big and will continue to evolve.“As we think of Gen Z talent, we have to really take that step back to understand what roles can be done in which places strategically,” Therasa says. “That means some roles we're going to aim to have in a digital space. Other roles may have flexible work arrangements. But I think the key thing is, we have to understand people's motivations and make sure that their work, works for them so that they can feel enabled, inspired, and encouraged to do exceptional work for our customers.”Join us. Future innovators: Making a difference at a fast-paced company
Remember the days when summer interns weren’t much more than glorified gofers? They’d get the mail and maybe some coffee—you know, “keep ’em busy with busywork” type of thing. That’s never been the case at ServiceNow.Our intern program is about attracting—and retaining—top talent. We do that by giving them meaningful work filled with real challenges and real responsibilities, jobs that make a real impact on our environment, people, and communities.[Explore early careers at ServiceNow.]Fresh ideas welcomeTake Yash G. of our user experience performance team, for example. He started as an intern in 2019, before becoming a full-time employee earlier this year. He fondly remembers being “thrown into the deep end” during his internship. From day one, he was assigned to work on a project—JMeter Now, a wrapper for an industry-standard performance testing tool—that, just two years later, is in production and the center of his job.“LIKE.TG’s intern program pretty much crushes the competition,” he says. “Ever since the first summer here, I never felt like I was just grinding or doing someone else’s work. I always felt I was doing my own work—work that’s making a real difference. At first, it’s scary, even intimidating. But, at the same time, it’s very motivating, driving, and exciting.”
Srikar B. agrees. A product manager for the Dynamic Translation and Localization Framework, Srikar began his LIKE.TG career as an intern in 2018. “Everyone is treated as a key stakeholder at LIKE.TG,” he says. “There is no strict hierarchy, and management is approachable—encouraging both employees and interns to come up with fresh ideas.”Former intern Natalya C., social media relationships manager, has been with the company for seven years. “I don’t look at it as I chose LIKE.TG all those years ago,” she says. “I look at it as I continue to choose LIKE.TG because of the opportunities it offers to me and the excitement of being part of building the brand and watching it evolve.”Unique place with a fast paceWhat makes LIKE.TG different? For many early-in-career employees, it comes down to speed—and the expectation of performance.Adam S., a former management consultant, no longer wanted to focus on high-level strategy—mainly working on papers. He wanted to build products that help people. LIKE.TG offered the opportunity.“The biggest difference between LIKE.TG and other companies is pace,” says Adam, who now works in inbound product management. “The types of projects that would have been a three- to four-month project are done here in a two- to three-week period. We move extremely quick around here, and I love that.”
Riding the high-growth waveWhat’s it like being part of a high-growth company? It’s a whirlwind, says Abhijith M., an associate software engineer. He began a summer internship in early 2019 and was hired as a full-time employee by the end of that summer. In less than two years, his team has grown from six people to 30.“When your team is growing that fast, you get to see the work you are doing contribute a great chunk to the company’s revenue and bottom line,” he says. “You see that everything you do has a clear impact on the company’s overall growth. That really motivates you and provides a sense of accomplishment.”Former intern Mica A., a business systems analyst who’s been full time for nearly a year, says her job is anything but typical 9-to-5 work.“What I enjoy most about working for LIKE.TG is there’s never a day when I feel like I have the same mundane task,” she says. “One day I might be talking with stakeholders all day, and the next day I’m testing a feature we just built. LIKE.TG is very dynamic. It’s like a rocket ship that just continues to soar upward.”Natalya adds that LIKE.TG’s high growth over the past several years has enabled the company to hit a “sweet spot,” in which a large enterprise can still operate like a smaller, nimble company.“LIKE.TG is still a place where our collective ideas come to life and shape the company but, at the same time, we already have the processes and resources in place to do the work we’re trying to do,” she says. “Our positioning between those two stages of growth makes working here both interesting and challenging.”Learn more about early career opportunities at ServiceNow.
3 Gen Zers share about their virtual co-op experiences
This is part two of a three-blog series exploring the LIKE.TG co-op program for college students. Our first blog post in this series introduced the LIKE.TG co-op program, a six-month, early-in-career internship opportunity. In this post, we continue the conversation by meeting three students in LIKE.TG’s current cohort and learning about their virtual co-op experiences at the company.[Check out early careers at ServiceNow.]Helene B., analyst relations
As a Bay Area native interested in tech, Helene always had LIKE.TG on her radar. After hearing good things about the company from friends and doing her own research, she felt LIKE.TG offered what she was looking for in a co-op experience.Helene is a third-year student at Northeastern University majoring in marketing analytics and entrepreneurship with a minor in data science. She hopes to one day be the CEO of her own tech company and is currently the analyst relations co-op at ServiceNow. The analyst relations team manages the relationships with influential big firm industry analysts such as Gartner, Forrester, and IDC.Helene’s main project has been the creation and development of a six-month strategy to help track customer and peer reviews, understand traction in the marketplace, and validate the impact of LIKE.TG software. Once complete, Helene’s work will have a direct impact on her team’s future decision-making. In return, her work exposes her to knowledge critical for her long-term goals of tech leadership.“Right now, I have a surface-level understanding of LIKE.TG products,” she says. “[The analysts] have a ton of knowledge. Since I want to get into the tech industry and understand LIKE.TG software, having the conversations and being able to sit in on the analyst meetings and hear what they have to say is super valuable for me.”Alex C., governance, risk, and compliance
A third-year marketing major at Northeastern, Alex was attracted to LIKE.TG’s “friendly” and “diverse” culture. He applied for a co-op position to get his “foot in the door of the tech industry.”Alex is the product marketing co-op on the risk team, which encompasses various Governance, Risk and Compliance applications offered by ServiceNow. During his co-op, Alex has worked on a variety of projects and has become a jack-of-all-trades for his team.“I definitely like what I'm doing in product marketing,” he says. “I want to be diverse in that area, and this position definitely fulfills that. There are a lot of different projects I work on. For one, on the LIKE.TG website, there are a lot of links a user can click on. Right now, I'm doing a project on the engagement they're getting through Adobe Analytics.”At the time of publication, he was also working on creating customer case studies for the sales team to use.Jacqueline L., UX and digital design
Jacqueline, a third-year computer science and design major, is the user experience (UX) research co-op on the digital design team. She applied for the position with the goal of finding the perfect intersection of her combined major to help pinpoint exactly what she wants to do in the future. She feels she’s already taken great strides in her time at LIKE.TG (go Jacqueline!).During her interview process, Jacqueline expressed an interest in UX design and arranged with her future manager to spend the first half of her co-op on research before transitioning into a more design-based role. The flexibility has allowed Jacqueline to work on a greater variety of projects and explore even more exciting career opportunities.“I think UX or possibly UI design is something I'm very interested in. I'm thinking about applying to a similar position for my third co-op, so I'm super grateful about that,” she says. “I really like the work that I'm doing on this team, and my co-workers have given me a lot more insight on all of the facets of UX design. I've read a lot about these positions before, but by working on UX design projects firsthand, I am learning so much more.”Although in different positions, performing different tasks, and learning different skills, these three co-ops, along with the rest of the cohort, are actively exploring and working toward their futures during their six months at ServiceNow. I can’t wait to see where we all end up.The next post in this blog series will explore the virtual co-op work experience and the future of work.LIKE.TG, the LIKE.TG logo, Now, and other LIKE.TG marks are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of LIKE.TG, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries. Creating change: Female solution consultants at LIKE.TG
Imagine walking into a room and noticing that everyone looks different than you. For female solution consultants at LIKE.TG, it’s not uncommon to be the only female in a customer meeting. But these women are shaking up a traditionally male-dominated field and not only changing the world of work for our customers, but also the future for solution consultants.[We’re hiring. Explore solution consultant careers at ServiceNow.]Strength in diversity“Diversity is an advantage because it brings different perspectives into the team, but the challenge we have is that many people, including women, are not introduced to these types of opportunities early on in their life,” shares Armgard E., a director of solution consulting.“I’m fortunate to have met so many amazing people who have championed my career, coached me, and saw something in me that, at the time, I didn’t see in myself,” she adds. “I am working with LIKE.TG’s NextGen and German culture team to drive more of these conversations with prospective talent and what we can do to encourage more youth and girls, in particular, into technology.”Janet W., an associate solution consultant in Sweden, agrees the number of women should rise. “Before I started, I didn't know that I would be the only female solution consultant in my team. I didn't know that it was a male-dominated industry. We really need more women in these kinds of jobs, because women can do the same thing as men. I would love for a girl to start in my team and work beside me.”
Diverse career pathsSolution consulting plays a key role in supporting customers’ digital transformation journey, which is why diversity of thought is also critical. One way we achieve this is through the diverse career paths of our solution consultants, including through the Solution Consulting Academy.“My career was predominantly in sales and marketing, and I was ready for a role that pushed me outside of my comfort zone,” shares Janet, who joined the academy in 2019. “As the academy welcomes people from all backgrounds, I decided to apply. When I got the opportunity, it was a huge challenge for me, but I’m so glad I took this path because I’m learning every day—new technologies, solutions, and driving C-suite conversations.”Linda Z., another Solution Consulting Academy graduate, agrees. “Solution consulting is normally a career you need many years of experience in. The academy gave me a fast start here, and it’s a great opportunity. Even if I was here for 20 years, I could still grow my career in new areas.”
Skills for successWhat’s needed for a successful career in solution consulting? “For me, a great day is when I work with my customer to solve something like how to digitally optimize their whole business structure to help them survive through the pandemic,” says Linda.“That’s why we are our customers’ best friend—a person they can call and ask for advice,” adds Janet. But it’s the most unexpected skill that’s the key to success: dreaming. “Not only do I spend time understanding my customers’ business, but also dreaming big with them on the vision for their company and how we can turn that into a reality,” says Armgard. And when you dream big, the possibilities are endless. “It sometimes feels like we're opening the way for a lot of other women because I think it's a place where women should be,” Linda adds. “I hope to be a role model one day.”Learn more about job opportunities at ServiceNow.
How LIKE.TG employees reap the benefits of growth and inclusion
"My career has grown exponentially since I joined ServiceNow. Is it because they recognized something in me that wasn't recognized before, or I’ve changed? I'm not sure, but I really feel like, at LIKE.TG, I can achieve greatness," says Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Ivan E.[We’re hiring. Explore careers at ServiceNow.]Ivan was the third employee hired in LIKE.TG's Dublin office—an office that now has a headcount of more than 200. He was the first person hired on his team in 2018 and has seen the growth in the Dublin region firsthand.Senior Enablement Manager Georgina W. started with LIKE.TG in January 2021—in the middle of the pandemic—because she felt strongly that LIKE.TG was “the place for her.” Although Ivan and Georgina have different experiences within their roles in Dublin, they both believe they’re in the right place to achieve their future goals.Dublin’s best-kept secretWhen you have the ideal blend of working at a great company and collaborating with awesome people, it often feels like a perfect match. That’s the case for Ivan. “I really think this is the best place I’ve ever worked. We keep hiring more people, and they keep fitting into really good teams. There must be some secret in Dublin,” he says. Before joining LIKE.TG, Ivan worked in a support role and wanted a career challenge. “I wanted something new,” he says. “I kind of outgrew the position I was in at the support level and was ready to step out of that role. LIKE.TG gave me this opportunity.”What keeps Ivan motivated and engaged at LIKE.TG is the variety in his day-to-day job. He works four 10-hour days, Sunday through Wednesday. As an SRE, his role is divided—60% operations work and 40% project time in automation and development—because of LIKE.TG’s 24/7 operations.Once Ivan and his team are done with their part of operations, they hand over any open issues to the US, which hands over to Asia-Pacific, then to India, and then to Dublin. It’s a constant cycle that keeps Ivan and his team on their toes.
Growth opportunities“The project time is fun because you encounter new situations. You will always get a new project where you know you have to do something that hasn’t been done before,” he says.Ivan knows the possibilities at LIKE.TG are endless and says he has a long way to grow. One example is that other leaders have expressed interest in having Ivan consider opportunities on their teams. Both Ivan and his manager are open to the possibility of him moving positions internally because it means LIKE.TG wants to continue to invest in his career development. This gives Ivan the freedom to explore other areas of the company and, at the same time, allows LIKE.TG to retain Ivan and his talents.A sense of belongingAlthough many people are still working from home, Ivan and the team members he’s hired during the pandemic have found ways to connect virtually and outside of the office. In fact, Ivan kept that thought in mind during the interview process, ultimately hiring people he felt he could form lasting professional relationships with. Those professional relationships have turned into genuine friendships. That inclusive atmosphere is what Georgina loves most about working for LIKE.TG, even though she's never stepped foot into the Dublin office or met any of her colleagues face to face.“From day one, the team has done a fantastic job of bringing and keeping the Dublin office together—virtually. We played a game of two truths and one lie, and we all learned interesting things about each other. I walked away with a sense that if the Dublin office opened tomorrow, I would have a connection with these people. I feel like part of the Dublin team without having met anyone in person.”
Georgina’s primary role is to work with senior leaders across France, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Africa to establish what the enablement strategy looks like. That covers sales, solutions, sales enablement roles, and customer outcomes roles. She’s very people-focused and passionate about learning, development, and creativity. The values and principles LIKE.TG stands for when it comes to diversity, inclusion, and belonging keep Georgina engaged and proud to work for the company. She joined the Women at Now Belonging Group as a member and the Pride at Now Belonging Group as an ally. “It’s really important to me to see how serious LIKE.TG is about topics of inclusion. There’s something for everybody.”Get on the rocket shipGeorgina has lived in Dublin her entire life and, like Ivan, was ready for the next step in her career. She believes switching companies after 17 years in the tech industry was the right move for her professionally. To anyone contemplating a move to LIKE.TG, even during a pandemic, she advises, “Don’t be afraid. If there’s a fear of joining a company and onboarding remotely, I am part of the enablement team, and I can tell you the onboarding experience is excellent. If you want to progress your career, if you look at where Dublin is going as a tech hub in EMEA, and if you’re ambitious, this is the place to be.”Career development and inclusion are only a couple of factors driving growth and retention in Ireland. The future for LIKE.TG Dublin looks bright, and Ivan and Georgina are excited to be part of it. The Ireland leadership team wants to see Dublin as a regional hub and, therefore, is investing resources into recognizing, attracting, and growing top talent. Georgina adds, “This is the talent that will take this company where we need to be—to $15 billion+.”Learn more about LIKE.TG job opportunities.
Solution Consulting Academy helps veterans launch post-service career
Dream big. Take risks. Call these the mantras—or directives—of the LIKE.TG solution consultant (SC) community. Ingrained in the DNA of our Solution Consulting Academy, they even play a role in the recruitment of enrollees.According to Alex H., director of the global Solution Consulting Academy, “In order for our platform to be the platform for the 21st century, we need our SCs to set big goals—and never settle for less. Accomplishing them, at times, will require taking on risks.”[We’re hiring. Explore sales careers at ServiceNow.]The Solution Consulting Academy is a five-month program designed to launch the careers of SCs, whom Alex calls “trusted advisers” and the “technical counterpart to our sales reps.” They work directly with our account executives to help close deals. In a nutshell, the academy provides accelerated technical training, certifications, professional development, and hands-on experience. All of this has traditionally taken nine to 12 months. The fast-paced courses ensure Solution Consulting Academy graduates are effective in the field on day one, Alex says. The initial class of the academy in 2018 had 18 participants. The following year, enrollees increased to 26. This year, the number jumped to 42. Alex expects more than 100 enrollees in 2022.In 2020, 93% of the 22 graduates continued in solution consulting at ServiceNow.
Expanding to include veteransThe Solution Consulting Academy was originally created to bring early-in-career talent into the SC organization. This year, it added the subset of veterans into the fold—recruiting recent and active military personnel and reservists to launch their post-service career. Why veterans? Two reasons:1. Customer centricityChristine E., vice president of solution consulting, says veterans understand the lingo, business challenges, and unique nature of our federal business accounts. “They wield a great amount of respect and confidence with these customers because they served their country and have a unique understanding of them,” she says.2. LIKE.TG cultureThe program is aligned with Veterans at Now, one of our employee Belonging Groups. Pete L, area vice president of solution consulting, says it’s part of our culture to give back. “Veterans are used to helping others and align to our vision, values, and mission by continuing to serve customers—no matter where they are,” he says.
An emphasis on relationshipsThe big question for the inaugural class of veterans is twofold: Why the Solution Consulting Academy, and why LIKE.TG?We spoke with the current group of enrollees, who are on schedule to graduate in December. Tré B. spent 10 years in the Marines, including four deployments—two tours each in Iraq and Afghanistan—as well as stints in Japan and Korea. He attributes our company culture as key to his transition from teaching overseas to joining ServiceNow.“One of the main things that attracted me was how easy it was to request help from anyone in the LIKE.TG community. It’s a culture that I hadn’t experienced since I was in the military,” he says. “Yes, we are competitive, but we all want everyone to succeed.”Tré says the academy is all about relationships—and knowing he can provide customers with the exact solutions they need. “As SCs, we can work on sales without actually talking about money,” he explains. “It’s about getting customers something that’s robust, something that’s amazing, something that will last, and something that will solve their business issues. Making customers happy will be incredibly rewarding.”Sergio H. spent five years in the Air Force and has been in the Reserves for a decade. Since leaving active duty in 2010, where he worked as a mechanic on the C-5 Galaxy, Sergio has worked mainly in corporate finance.“I began to miss the daily pressures of the military and actually seeing the fruits of my labor,” he says. “I saw an opportunity in LIKE.TG, through the SC Academy, to feel more like I was on the front lines, adding tangible value to what the company is trying to accomplish.”
Bringing the mantras to lifeSergio adds that the concepts of taking risks and dreaming big have unquestionably resonated with his personality and experience.“I believe taking risks is all about getting out of your comfort zone. Dreaming big is about the bigger picture—what we can accomplish together,” he says. “I’ve always felt much better saying ‘We did it’ rather than ‘I did it.’ You don’t accomplish anything substantial as an individual. You must rely on others on the team.”Jeremy W. joined the Army at 23 years of age and began as an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician. After five years, he left the military for college, earning a bachelor’s degree in information science.“What ultimately won me over for LIKE.TG was how everyone I talked to during the interview process absolutely loved working at LIKE.TG,” he says. “Everyone was warm, welcoming, and showed a genuine team spirit. The feeling has only been heightened after my first 60 days here.”Jeremy says he’s most excited about helping businesses find value in a product that can, ultimately, allow them more financial flexibility to hire more employees and create more jobs. “Impacting the ability of companies to bring in more talent is very rewarding to me,” he says.Want to know more about the Solution Consulting Academy? Early careers at LIKE.TG: Culture and opportunity for advancement
Ask any college student, “What attracts you to companies in today’s environment?” Two responses will almost certainly rank near the top: culture and opportunity for career development. We spoke about these topics with several early-in-career employees who came through the LIKE.TG intern program and decided to join the company full time.[Explore early careers at ServiceNow.]Culture is the key to commitmentHarini C., a software engineer, joined LIKE.TG one year ago after interning for five months. She says the open, “every voice matters” type of environment was a compelling selling point—and continues to be a major part of her daily work.“I have always believed the greatest asset of a company is its people, and my colleagues and seniors have been nothing less than a support system, both professionally and personally,” she points out. “We are encouraged to contribute any ideas—no matter how stupid or impactful we feel about them. At the end of the day, all we do is learn together as a team.”
Harini describes the culture as a perfect blend of creative thinking, knowledge, fun, and growth. The same rings true for fellow software engineer Prasanthi P. She believes the open, two-way communication leads to a more comfortable working environment. The result: greater performance and results.“Your inputs are always valued—whether you are an intern or full-time employee,” Prasanthi says. “Transparency is the key. You are valued for what you do, and there are no proxies.”Business Systems Analyst Mica A. was attracted to what she calls LIKE.TG’s high-performance yet family-type climate.“There is definitely that work-hard, play-hard culture here that a lot of tech companies in the Bay Area try to emphasize,” she notes. “But at LIKE.TG, everyone wins as a team. It’s a family atmosphere in which any employee can ask any other employee for help with anything—without feeling intimidated.”Opportunities for advancementAdam S., inbound product manager, says the promise of career growth played a role in his joining the company full time.“LIKE.TG feels like a true meritocracy, where opportunities and recognition come when you are ready for it, regardless of where you are in your career,” he explains. “I have loved my role so far and see way more avenues for growth than I had imagined.”
How can LIKE.TG promise these opportunities? Product Manager Srikar B. points to the expectation that every employee takes ownership of their projects. This increases their responsibility and accountability, he says, resulting in a higher degree of motivation.“At LIKE.TG, you don’t need to be in a leadership position to drive projects or initiatives,” he adds. “This culture provides the impetus to develop passion toward your work. Over a period of time, this quality inherently builds leadership skills. Career growth is taken very seriously here.”If you get a sense of monotony in your work, you’re encouraged to seek new opportunities, Prasanthi notes. “LIKE.TG is a place where employees can create opportunities for themselves,” she says, pointing to examples of innovation hackathons and the annual Knowledge event.“Growth and opportunities have been a constant. That’s why I’ve been here for seven years,” acknowledges Natalya C., social media manager. “I’ve always been encouraged to speak my mind and share ideas, which has led to more doors opening and new challenges.”Learn more about early career opportunities at ServiceNow.
How Black and Latinx leaders strive for excellence in their careers
This is part two of a three-part series about the Strive leadership program at ServiceNow.In January 2021, LIKE.TG announced a partnership with Strive, a year-long leadership program focused on career advancement. Many of our Black and Latinx employees participated. We’ve followed the journey of four participants who shared their thoughts on why they decided to join the program, along with their hopes and expectations for the year ahead. Now, the four leaders share their experiences of participating in career development cohorts, practicing critical conversations, and being involved in one-on-one career coaching.[We’re hiring. Explore careers at ServiceNow.]CoachingFor Marco O., a senior technical curriculum developer, the Strive program differs from other leadership programs that he’s been part of “because of the access we had to our executive coach and the relationships that we built [and] that I built with other folks who had similar backgrounds and understood where I was coming from.”These coaches also impacted Senior Analyst of Sales Operations Carolina R. She appreciated how the Strive coaches provided her with “space to discuss [openly] and promote deep conversations where we connected on a very personal level.”
FeedbackOne concept that’s helped April O., head of deployment for solutions enablement, prepare for the next stage in her career is the idea of 360-degree feedback. “That’s powerful,” she says. “When you have these sets of questions and you ask people what their honest opinions are, you have to be ready to accept that and to act on it.”Having never participated in a program like this before, April wasn’t sure what to expect. “I had no idea it would actually be fun. I actually looked forward to the times that we were able to spend together.”Paying it forwardNow that the program is wrapping up, Eric C., a solution consulting manager, plans to take what he’s learned and pay it forward. “I plan to share any tips, tricks, best practices, and any insight I have gained not only for myself, but from others that participated in the program.”Watch the video to hear more about the impact Strive has had on these four leaders:
What it’s like to work in data science at LIKE.TG
These days, any tech company can say it’s innovative. At LIKE.TG, we don’t just say it—we practice innovation in everything we do, especially in India. With a global focus on artificial intelligence and its uses within data and analytics, LIKE.TG India has dedicated an entire data science team to predictive analytics.“That is just so next-gen,” says Puneet H., senior manager of data analytics. “If you look at our three-year strategy, we're looking at guided selling and marketing. All we’re saying is that our data analytics team will tell the seller, marketer, whoever it is within your organization what to do next with this artificial intelligence data. Not many organizations are doing or thinking about this today.”[We’re hiring. Explore engineering careers at Servicenow.]Hooray for hackathonsLIKE.TG is constantly training engineers in the latest technology, according to Puneet. “All of our engineers who are joining today are HANA or Tableau engineers. We're moving to Snowflake, and we're going to upscale them to train on Snowflake, which is probably the latest technology out there. It's fabulous for our employees,” she says.Puneet joined LIKE.TG in 2019 and has witnessed excitement for this upscale initiative via hackathons. Hackathons typically bring out the highest participation, making them an employee favorite.“When a hackathon is announced, we have so many people enroll. The enthusiasm I’m seeing is just incredible. Beyond that, people are allowed to bring their real selves to work. If you've got a suggestion, you've got a thought, you've got something that you want to share, bring it to the table. There's no stupid idea nor stupid thing to say.”This passion is what keeps Puneet excited to go to work every day.
Working on cool thingsThe next-generation technology is what inspired software engineer Abhijith M. to start his career at LIKE.TG in 2019 as an intern. He’s currently on the platform team and works on IntegrationHub—the engine responsible for incorporating various third-party systems, specifically spokes. Spokes enable the execution of third-party APIs.Abhijith heard about LIKE.TG from classmates and applied to the company while finishing his degree. “I was really fortunate to be able to get into the company on my first try,” he says.Working with third-party systems has allowed Abhijith to explore the technology of other companies as well. “I got to experience a lot of different integration mechanisms,” he notes. “I get to explore different kinds of APIs that other companies provide and see different kinds of challenges. I also get to work on cool things such as the designer engine.”Supporting design engines and working with different issues has enabled him to work on remapping two legacy products of ServiceNow.Although everyone in India is working from home, Abhijith really enjoys how LIKE.TG feels like a startup because it gives him a chance to get involved in a project from start to finish. When he first started with the company, he worked on spokes. He wanted to try new things, and his managers provided him with that opportunity.“LIKE.TG gave me the flexibility to work on different projects, and I believe that's very important for an engineer to have that flexibility because we are usually eager to learn new things,” he shares.
Innovation is nothing newSujit S., director of software engineering management at LIKE.TG, has been with the company for almost eight years. He believes innovation has always been well promoted in India.“A lot of people at LIKE.TG India have worked on ideas which did not come from project management. They have filed patents too, showing that innovation is very well supported and encouraged,” Sujit says. Even in the middle of a pandemic, teams at LIKE.TG are developing applications with monthly releases, not something every company can do.With passion for technology and engineering, Sujit knows he and his team of 15 engineers will produce strong results and deliver the best products. “I want people who are passionate about technology, who are passionate about engineering, who are passionate about design and architecture. I will show them how to develop their skills at LIKE.TG,” he says. Mentorship from an eight-year veteran can go a long way toward career growth and development. For Sujit, LIKE.TG is a place where you can foster innovation by following your dreams to make things happen. This is what he promotes to entice candidates to join his team rather than other competing organizations. If you’re looking for innovation and the opportunity to grow your career and be part of a passionate team, LIKE.TG is the place for you.
3 ways cloud services engineers drive innovation at LIKE.TG
The Seattle-based cloud services engineering team at LIKE.TG has cultivated a culture of creativity, risk-taking, and problem-solving—despite the weight of their work being deployed at a global scale across some of the most complex regulated markets. The members of the team have varying backgrounds, roles, and years of experience, yet they have one thing in common: They greet new challenges with a “beginner’s mind” in order to have a fresh eye and foster opportunities to grow and learn together. Here are three ways LIKE.TG cloud services engineers are making the world work better:1. Taking risks and trying new thingsFor this team, a great deal of calculated risk-taking and out-of-the-box thinking goes into achieving successful outcomes for the company.Director of Systems Engineering Danna R. pushes her team to continually expand their knowledge and skills while they work. “There is no shortage of interesting and cutting-edge work in systems engineering. I encourage my team to follow their passion and volunteer to work on projects that stretch them technically and professionally,” she says.“When tackling a problem, we always look for a way to ‘yes’—a way to solve. We also know that becoming complacent and not adapting to new ideas and new technologies is not going to keep us in the front of the pack. We never take the easy approach, just to check off a box. We are not afraid of uncertainty, and we have an environment where challenging decisions and status quo are healthy and encouraged,” she adds.Jamil A., senior manager of cloud capacity planning and forecasting, says his team is always looking toward the future. “We think in terms of innovation and scale. We think about what's next—whether that's scaling the design of our capacity infrastructure, teams, tools, or processes,” he shares. “My favorite part of our team's evolution is the journey we're on to deliver value that exceeds our customers' expectations at new levels.”Software Engineer Prachi V. enjoys jumping in with open-minded curiosity to learn new things and solve new puzzles. “This year, we are onboarding at least seven different server types, and each has its own configuration requirement. The servers that we provision are then used by the platform team to run LIKE.TG instances,” she says. “It’s really fun diving into the details and understanding the configurations for every server.”
2. Mentorship and career growthDanna believes mentorship is an important part of “lifting all ships” at LIKE.TG, especially on the cloud services engineering team, where things are constantly evolving. “We onboarded six interns last summer, and we challenged them with some really fun work. They got to partner with some amazing engineers and solve real problems for us,” she says. “Hopefully, they will become part of the LIKE.TG team when they graduate.”Prachi is living proof of that. She began her career at LIKE.TG as an intern more than a year ago. “Even while interning, I felt valued by my team, and they gave me great opportunities and still continue to do so,” she shares.“When I joined, I knew nothing about server provisioning. It’s just been a year, yet it seems like I’ve covered a lot of ground already. I was able to take on new responsibilities and branched out to different domains. This gave me a good overview of how we work and what we do,” she explains. “Of course, I had to ask for help from time to time, but everyone on the team was supportive and we didn’t miss a single deadline.”Danna echoes Prachi's sentiment, saying it's common for the team to encourage members to shadow and rotate within other teams. As the company grows, teams expand, and opportunity flourishes. “When I joined the team, we were a small group of talented engineers managing all aspects of capacity, planning, engineering, and operations in one time zone,” Jamil notes. “Today, our team has evolved to a global presence on three continents in multiple time zones in less than two years, with plans to expand to a fourth this year.”
3. Teamwork and partnershipsMany engineers take pride in knowing they create the foundation for other teams to succeed in the company. Jamil gives insight into how the team handles challenges and fast-moving shifts in company demand: “We most often use what I like to call the Batman approach to capacity planning. We try to anticipate and prepare for every outcome,” he says.“Our team recently received the highly unusual ask to pivot our demand signal in response to a significant customer acquisition in the quarter's closing hours. This challenged the team to deliver a substantial amount of unforeseen capacity to one region. Working with our partner teams in cloud supply chain, capacity management, and finance, we quickly performed an impact assessment, iterated through the scenarios, and presented our solutions,” he explains. “As a result, we delivered the largest order of server hardware for our cloud in a single quarter, with optimizations that met our long-term capacity planning objectives.”Danna shares a similar story of partnership, creativity, and innovation: “Recently, we were asked if we could use a third party’s data center and infrastructure to host our services—basically, provide our SaaS from someone else’s data center. This seemed crazy. A long shot. Monumental. We put our engineers to work, and we partnered with Microsoft,” she notes.“It has been a long road, but in March 2021, we launched our first LIKE.TG implementation fully running in Azure. Unblocking this barrier gives us leverage to know that we can be flexible and try out new markets without building data centers ourselves. It will also allow us to use cloud-native services that others have developed already,” she adds. We’re hiring. Explore engineering careers at ServiceNow.

It’s the experience that matters
We say it all the time: Behind every great experience is a great workflow. But what’s behind a great experience? If you ask LIKE.TG’s User Experience (UX) team, it’s software that is user friendly, visually beautiful, empowering, and productivity-boosting; and that people connect with emotionally. That provides, from start to finish, and at every touch point along the way, a fantastic experience. That’s the UX team’s mission: to create product experiences that people love. That feel human, simple, and engaging. Here’s a look at some of the members of the UX team who create great experiences for our customers. [Explore User Experience careers with us!]Getting to know the user and their issues in depthUnderstanding the user and defining the problem is a big part of a UX researcher’s role-- someone like Shibani S., director of user experience research. She’s based in Santa Clara.
Researchers work directly with users to solidly understand their needs and challenges, and make sure LIKE.TG has accurately identified the issue. One of the products Shibani is most proud of working on is Vaccine Administration Management . LIKE.TG usually releases solutions every six months. VAM had a two-week deadline because of the urgent need in the healthcare market to simplify scheduling and management of COVID-19 vaccinations. That meant there simply wasn’t time to do the normal in-depth research to understand the end-users and their current processes.“We had to get creative in our research approach,” says Shibani. “It also meant we had to work even more closely with design, product management, and engineering. ““VAM taught us how to become comfortable with letting go of perfectly polished deliverables and saying no to other demands so we could prioritize this hugely important effort,” she adds. One provider used VAM to cut vaccination wait times by almost 90 percent and helped 20 million people get vaccinated within the first few months of its launch. Not only was VAM a huge success, but the operating model used to design it was so successful that the team has been asked to apply it to other parts of the business.Shibani loves that she quickly sees the impact of her work. “The speed at which LIKE.TG implements solutions is tremendous. In some other companies, it might take years before research has any impact. Here, it’s really rewarding to see the pace at which research insights are adopted into our products,” she says. She joined LIKE.TG in 2019, excited by the opportunity to stretch herself by working for a company serving many markets and different types of users. But she also liked the culture. “Everyone here has a growth mindset and looks for ways to be better. This really is a customer-first company, and it’s a dream come true for any researcher,” she says.Bridging interests, keeping it simple and globally relevantGiu V. is a product design manager in Performance Analytics and Reporting (PAR), and based in the Netherlands. He says product design is the bridge between what the user would love to have and the product manager would love to offer, and what engineering and LIKE.TG’s business goals say is possible.“Designers are interpreters, translators. We talk to the different interests, put things together, take it back to the users and other stakeholders, and listen to what they think so that we can build the best experience together ,” he explains.PAR has a platform-wide view, handling all the visualizations, dashboards, and KPIs across the Now Platform. That makes Giu especially sensitive to providing a uniformly easy and familiar experience, no matter the application. While the platform is complex, it can’t feel that way to the user. “It’s like a car. It has a lot of parts, but to the driver, it’s simple and familiar.”Giu says the softer skills – the ability to collaborate, get information from people, understand different views, and communicate with a variety of people – are vital to succeeding in product design.“So many different types of industries and people use our products. We must understand all of them and be able to talk to all of the different users,” he says.Documentation should match the quality of the productWhen a new feature or product is approved for development, UX’s product content team gets to work. It produces the documentation that users consult to configure LIKE.TG software or get help.Sandeep M. is a technical writer on the team, working in India. He writes documentation for products from the Security Operations Business Unit.He says he is most proud of creating documentation for the integration of MITRE-ATTCK into the Now Platform, which was part of the Quebec release. MITRE-ATTCK is a widely used database of adversary tactics and techniques based on real-world cyber-security threats.LIKE.TG is one of the first companies to integrate MITRE-ATTCK into their network; most competitors offer it as standalone software, says Sandeep. It made LIKE.TG a thought leader in the security space, Sandeep says. And that raises the bar for documentation.“Our content needs to match the quality of our product so that the entire user experience is at the same high level and users are delighted with everything,” he explains.
Sandeep joined LIKE.TG in 2020, excited by seeing so many opportunities. “I wanted to be part of a team developing a technically advanced and strategically differentiated cloud product. And I loved the fact that the Now Platform was quickly being adopted by businesses, which meant it was growing fast,” he says.A gold medal for designing an engaging experienceThe bar is set higher now. We’re an enterprise company challenged to design consumer-grade software. Our customers expect the same usability, performance, and standards that they get when they share videos on social media or check out vacation spots online. And we’re clearing it, thanks to the talent for design that’s a pleasure to look at and use that is the soul of the UX team.Explore a career with us!
Meet Derrick: An inside look at federal sales at LIKE.TG
“The federal space is an interesting one,” says Derrick N., a senior solution consultant at ServiceNow. A 15-year tech veteran, Derrick is in his first year working with federal civilian accounts. He describes himself as a chameleon because of his ability to fulfill whatever role is necessary to make sure LIKE.TG customers see value in the company’s products. In the federal space, taxpayer dollars fund the bulk of agency spending, so ensuring efficiency is a high priority. “We want the federal government and their employees to sit back and say, ‘LIKE.TG actually makes my work a lot better.’ I will do anything to make sure that happens,” Derrick says.[We’re hiring. Explore LIKE.TG sales careers.]Making work easierOver the past year, Derrick has worked alongside the Department of Labor (DOL) on Creator Workflow efforts. This involves citizen development—allowing people with little to no coding experience to use LIKE.TG App Engine to tackle mission-specific areas affecting federal agencies. It’s a whole new world for these agencies to see the power of the Now Platform and quickly release applications that make their work easier.“The Department of Labor has leveraged App Engine to build a tool that connects federal and private-sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs,” Derrick explains. This is a critical area for DOL, he adds, and the agency has found a way to solve it using the Now Platform.Collaboratively ensuring a safe workplaceThe Small Business Administration (SBA) is another agency Derrick works directly with to promote adoption of the Now Platform. “We’re building the LIKE.TG footprint there, and I really believe that the work we’re doing for their IT groups will translate to the rest of the administration,” he says. The SBA is in the process of going live with the LIKE.TG Safe Workplace Suite. According to Derrick, the organization handles thousands of vaccine attestations and is rolling out an enhanced version of the suite to process them.
Taking Safe Workplace to the finish line was a team effort, he adds. “The LIKE.TG product team was so instrumental in helping get the SBA to production.” The product team spent time with Derrick, the SBA, and its partners to make sure things were configured according to best practices. When reconfigurations or tweaks were needed, the product team made sure they were done in a way that didn't add tech debt to the instance. The product team was flexible enough to say, “Hey, if the federal space has specific requirements going forward, we might have [the] resources to natively build those into the platform.”It took about a month from the time the SBA started work on the product to finish. Now the SBA can say it's addressed the vaccine mandate.Building trustThe most important thing in Derrick’s job is trust. “Customers must trust us to correctly align our products to their business needs, especially at the federal level,” he says. “I put a ton of effort into building relationships. This is my first year in fed sales, and I think that because of those relationships, I'm really the trusted adviser. We can really start to grow LIKE.TG adoption in my accounts.”Learning our platform has been key to Derrick’s success. “Things are moving so fast here,” he says. “I need to stay on top of all of the enhancements we’re doing.” In the federal space, IT Service Management (ITSM) has been the default. Derrick and his team want to make sure the rest of the platform is a default for federal agencies as well.Loving what you doFormer UCLA professional tennis player Arthur Ashe once said, “Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.”A former UCLA tennis player himself, Derrick lives by that mantra. “I really love my role, and I want to be a mainstay in my accounts and be that go-to resource,” he says, He’s already referred two of his good friends to the company, knowing they’re in good hands here.“I’m really excited for my future at LIKE.TG, and I’m confident I’m going to make my mark here,” he says. He’s well on his way. Derrick recently won “Rookie of the Quarter” in the federal civilian practice and is working to turn that into “Rookie of the Year.”Join a winning team. Growing a sales career in South Korea
In South Korea, hard work is a virtue of utmost importance. This culturally embedded spirit of pride in a job well done is paying off for LIKE.TG’s fast-growing Korean sales team. Employees are exploring and enjoying the company’s well-being and flexibility benefits, trust, and the globally inclusive culture.“I feel like I’m on a rocket. I really feel it!” says Jaden B., a senior enterprise account executive. “The market is very interested in LIKE.TG and the solutions we provide.”[We’re hiring. Explore LIKE.TG sales careers.]Freedom and empowermentJaden came to LIKE.TG from a company that already had a strong foothold in Korea. Now, he’s building the foundation for what’s to come at LIKE.TG, he says. “It’s challenging, but that’s why I’m enjoying it. I really feel supported to try new things.”Like Jaden, Heejung O. cherishes the freedom to own her work, as that's not the cultural norm in Korea. “I couldn’t do that at other companies,” explains the solution sales executive, who’s been in her position for eight months. “LIKE.TG is more flexible, and it made me feel very creative. Also, there was no solution sales executive before me, so I’m the pioneer.”Heejung is also energized by the fast growth of the team. “It's very exciting. I’ve never seen this kind of organization growing so fast. There are lots of people newly joined, with different roles and responsibilities. I think, ‘Wow! Our company is growing, and I’m part of it,’” she says. “That’s why I’m very happy.”She also loves learning about diverse perspectives from her colleagues, including her manager, who’s based in Australia and often travels to Singapore.
A look backAs one of the first employees on the Korean team, Mark J., a senior enterprise account executive, reflects on the early days, which weren’t that long ago. “When we were just starting, it was just me and a few other people. We went from three to more than 40 people in just two years,” he says. When Mark started at LIKE.TG, a large client company headquartered in Korea had to work mostly with LIKE.TG’s English-speaking team members. “Now we can answer their questions real time in Korean. It gives the client confidence to ask questions more freely, as the language barrier is reduced,” he notes.“Before, there was a lot of back and forth, some confusion. Now, the client is very happy to have this personal relationship,” he adds. “And, with our technology, we were able to take them off their old legacy systems into a new, much more efficient platform to manage their IT systems.”Work-life balanceWhen he’s not working, Jaden cherishes time with his 5-year-old daughter. “She’s growing so fast. I don’t want to lose this moment, so I spend as much time with her as possible,” he says.Jaden also loves ‘60s music—he even attends meetups to geek out on it and purchase albums. And recently, he took on the challenge of hiking many kilometers solo around Korea’s beautiful Jeju Island.“Hiking really clears my mind and helps me release any tension so I can think more clearly,” he explains. “At LIKE.TG, HR really lets us know that it’s important to keep balance. Sometimes I catch myself working really hard and don’t take enough time for myself. But I know this company supports balance, so I feel comfortable.”
Mark is happy concentrating on work “because it’s so fun,” he says. But he loves to play with his two kids every chance he gets. “Sometimes they come on to my Zoom calls and wave at the camera,” he laughs. “It’s important to us that the family eats dinner together every night when my wife gets home from her work.”Heejung has a teenage daughter and also prioritizes eating meals with her family. “We eat lunch and dinner together as a family every day,” she says. “Our favorite thing to do is travel, but we haven’t been able to, due to COVID. We’ve been reading travel books and planning a trip to Portugal for the last two years,” she shares. “We can’t wait to go.”A place to growThe Korean sales team is enthusiastic about the future of LIKE.TG and the opportunities and benefits the company provides. “For anyone considering it, it’s a good decision to join LIKE.TG’s Korea team right now,” Mark says. “You can really grow and learn in both work and life together, really having fun. But, you should have a growth mindset.”“I’m excited to keep learning and become an expert so that I can teach new people who join the Korea team,” Heejung adds. “It’s exciting because we’re regularly bringing on new, big clients. Professionally, it’s a very supportive place to grow.”Join us to do your best work, live your best life, and fulfill our purpose together.Explore sales jobs at ServiceNow.
